Another almost near disaster

Herr Chunkster is correct if my AI is to be believed.  As an aside, perplexity.ai also indicates that meth in Hawaii is primarily trafficked by Mexican Cartels.  Apologies for all of the HTML issues below.

are there more meth heads in Hawaii or in Oklahoma?
Answer
Comparing methamphetamine use between Hawaii and Oklahoma reveals significant issues in both states, but the data suggests that Oklahoma has a higher prevalence of methamphetamine use.

Oklahoma
 • Methamphetamine use in Oklahoma is significantly higher than the national average. From 2019 to 2020, 1.6% of adults in Oklahoma reported using methamphetamine, nearly twice the national rate of 0.9%.

 • Methamphetamine was involved in nearly two-thirds of Oklahoma's drug overdose deaths in 2020, and unintentional overdose deaths involving methamphetamine have increased by 354% since 2010.

 • The state has seen a significant increase in treatment admissions for methamphetamine use, with an 88% increase in admissions for methamphetamine as the primary drug of choice since 2012.
Conclusion
While both states face severe methamphetamine problems, the data indicates that Oklahoma has a higher prevalence of methamphetamine use among its population compared to Hawaii.

Despite being a very popular newspaper in the UK, the paper has a very poor reputation and is known for its sensationalism. You only have to read a few stories on that site to know it's a training ground for tabloid journalists.

Thank you ChunksterK for the correction.  No I have not been to Oklahoma, thankfully, so I defer to your boots-in-the-ground intel.  Also, I will make no plans to go there anytime soon!

I'll go there if they have hovering jet airliners. That would be quite a sight.

I think you might just need a "bump" to see any jet hover!

And please, let's not give our junior pilots any possible suggestions to try to program their flight computer with.

OK, I'll try not to influence junior pilots and watch for a bump. That's pretty much the status quo, but I'll be extra careful.

It sounds like the flight just got too low on an approach to the airport. At nine miles out, I wonder what the correct elevation should have been?

On my last arrival at SeaTac we were just about to touch down when the pilot aborted the landing. We did a big circle around the area before finally coming back and touching down.

Several years ago, I was flying into Milwaukee, Wisconsin on a 757. It was considerably foggy and at night. As we were getting closer to landing, the Captain came on the intercom and, while paraphrasing here, but more or less says - in a very calm and even jovial tone:

"Listen folks, I'm going to be honest here. The computer is landing this plane. I'm up here saying yes or no. I just want to prepare all of you that as we get closer to the runway, if I don't like what I see, were going right back up!"

Fortunately, he liked what he saw!
