The Hawaii-related ukulele thread

These are all so wonderful. Thanks to all who have shared so far.

re: Led Kaapana. . .  "Heʻs one of my favorites, although I believe thatʻs a guitar, not an ukulele."

Oops! I rushed in my excitement of this fun positive thread. Here's Led on a Ukulele, also set up as slack key style. He plays a couple of songs and also talks a bit. "Ukulele Sessions: Slack-Key Master Led Kaapana":

Umm... I believe that was an ukulele, of the tenor variety.

Ukuleles come with different number of strings. Traditionally there are 4 but 5 and 6 string instruments are common.

The distinction of a Ukulele is its scale length. That's the overall length of the vibrating string. And you'll note that ukus have a very short length. Whereas guitar's are quite a bit longer, and bass guitars even more..

Same same with violin and all the other instruments that follow up to an upright bass.. same design more or less, different scale lengths.

What are the advantages of a tenor ukulele over a standard size?
The tenor burns longer!

I found a better camera angle at about 29 seconds in.  Looks like 4 tuners to me, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on my vision.  You could search a bit more for another angle, but be careful.  This might not be the song that you want to have stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

A little more about the types of ukuleles at the 5-minute mark here. I have little knowledge of the instrument, so I won't comment about that, but here's about an hour of ukulele fun, which starts with the classic old American folk song "Psycho Killer":

I have one...but I have yet to learn how to play it. String instruments confound me. Especially since I'm left-handed.

But it's fun to look at and dream...
