federal agents must present a judicial warrant, not just an administrative warrant
They can also just present guns and flash-bang grenades instead.

Cali Gov Tells Nation That Prez Is Destroying American Democracy, will Governor Green follow suit?
This is pretty screwed up.. even an old man in some long lost "substandard" sub in Hawaii gets the feeling this is local to all of us..
And wonders how much longer we'll have the freedom to wake up and smell the coffee. San Diego brew? Oy Vey
But seriously.. how long before each state's gov has to declare his/her intentions.. which side of the line they will stand on, and what will be the consequences here? Will Josh be able to remain in control of the Hawaii State National Guard, or will Richie Rich be able to turn our brothers and sisters against us, and will they obey his orders if he does?
And how would that look? Will we be required to show our papers to go to Home Depot?

MyManao - Will Josh be able to remain in control of the Hawaii State National Guard, or will Richie Rich be able to turn our brothers and sisters against us, and will they obey his orders if he does?
Governor Green and the Hawaii AG are speaking up against such actions - will have to see today how things play out in the CA courts.

"Gov. Josh Green and Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez joined their Democratic counterparts from around the country in condemning President Donald Trump’s deployment of California National Guard troops to quell protests of immigration sweeps in Los Angeles.
Green was one of 22 governors who issued a joint statement that called Trump’s reaction to protests against deportation “an alarming abuse of power. Governors are the Commanders in Chief of their National Guard and the federal government activating them in their own borders without consulting or working with a state’s governor is ineffective and dangerous.”
On the floor of the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz called Trump’s deployment of the California National Guard a purposeful effort to take attention from Trump’s budget bill, which Schatz said would slash federal funding for Medicaid, Medicare and food stamps to fund tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
...
Schatz said, “Trump does what he always does. He creates a spectacle out of nowhere in order to distract people from what is actually happening. They are cutting Medicaid. They are slashing nutritional assistance for children and families. They are jacking up everyone’s health insurance premiums and energy bills.”
He called on Americans to push back against Trump’s budget bill.
“What we need across the country is a bunch of people saying, ‘Don’t cut Medicare. Don’t cut Medicaid. Don’t cut food assistance,” Schatz said. “And certainly don’t use all of those cuts to provide resources to the wealthiest people to have ever walked the planet. We’re going to fight as hard as we can. We’ve only got 47 votes. We need four Republicans to say ‘enough is enough.’”

It looks as though someone has finally discovered that coffee pickers and hotel workers are not all murderers and drug dealers. In fact, maybe American businesses need to keep these hard working individuals on the payroll? It’s a policy some here on Punaweb have suggested for weeks even months, as a better, less disruptive way to administer an immigration enforcement policy. Better late than never, well, except for the violence, fear, worry some have endured in the meantime. Which now appears was completely unnecessary. ?
In a post on TruthSocial this morning, Trump said that he’s heard from business leaders that his mass deportation agenda ‘is taking very good, long time workers away from them.’ ... ‘Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,’ the president wrote.
In the same online message, the Republican added that he wants to “protect our Farmers,” while getting “criminals” out of the country. “Changes are coming!” he concluded.
To be sure, whether “changes” will ever materialize is unclear. He also didn’t say which farmers or people in the hospitality industry he’s been speaking to.

Hmm, TACO time! Combined with the pics of the flags and streets, going to induce a visit soon to Si Si's! (or maybe Mexican street tacos were on the menu for the weekend anyways :)

Good news for Hawaii farms and hotels, updated ICE policy, Friday 6/13:
“Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels,” he wrote in the message.
The email explained that investigations involving “human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries are OK.” But it said — crucially — that agents were not to make arrests of “noncriminal collaterals,” a reference to people who are undocumented but who are not known to have committed any crime.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the guidance.

“noncriminal collaterals,”
Ironically, here in Hawaii, as well as every other state, simply being an undocumented immigrant while on Hawaiian or American soil is not a criminal violation of law but is a civil violation of law. No matter how it came to be that any individual is undocumented and present either here in Hawaii or anywhere else in the US.
In that context, sending in heavily armed law enforcement from local, state and/or federal agencies to round up violators of civil laws is a bit of an overkill don't you think?

Obie - Why wouldn't they be carrying American flags instead of burning them.
Some protestors are carrying American flags, some have flags related to their heritage, some both, and some are burning their flags (which is also a constitutionally protected form of speech - some of y'all seem to have issues with people exercising their basic civic liberties.) Some places here even mix U.S., Hawaii state, and McD's flags all together as well - hapa papapa - lovin' it.
Also flying flags of foreign countries while you are attacking police officers should be considered an invasion.
Does the term "false flag" ring a bell there Webster? Can you check your dictionary for what would be the term then for those that attack police while flying U.S., Confederate, and political fealty flags? Starts with an I? Maybe check the T's as well? Pretty unpardonable behavior, one would think.
ICE is having to curtail its overreach because of people standing up, which will hopefully help protect immigrants here in Hawaii as well. Wave a flag (your choice - it's a free country after all), grab a shaved ice ('tis the rainbow season), and keep on working to protect the rights of all people.

I have no idea why this thread is still alive. There seems to be a moderation issue right now.
There was a video posted today from a riot somewhere, I forget where it was, but someone on the protesters' side flew a Palestinian flag. I'm sure that's perfectly legal, but consider what that entails. Now, go back 80 years ago when the greatest generation, including many from Hawaii, fought the Nazis. What do you think they would say if they saw someone, for example, waving a Nazi flag in a protest here and saying "death to America"?
Maybe the odd native Hawaiian would agree with that sentiment, but I doubt many would. Flying foreign flags is not an invasion; it's just a pure insult to a country and its citizens that used to welcome immigrants and ask them to be respectful and obey the laws.
