What a load of nonsense. Immigration and politics are general topics. Sometimes they are related to Hawaii, and sometimes they aren't. To claim that you replied in the bicker thread because it was about politics and not immigration is ridiculous and isn't credible.

Pathetic.

But you know, for those looking to make America white again it's a win.

Here are some updates.  Immigration arrests are up in every state this year including Hawaii.

There have been no arrests at UH-Hilo, but foreign students have expressed concerns. Some might say that’s no reason to worry, but the secondary affect is to quiet commentary that might be considered dissent, not voice anything in public as it may show up later on your phone, or in written notes at the university, emails, messages, etc.
It’s just one feature built into the policy.

So… if a tree falls n the forest, no one will hear.

Arrests in Hawaii have been less than 1 per day all this month.

Arrests in Hawaii have been less than 1 per day all this month.

So we are told. But in reality, who's to say?

Do we really know anything from a gov that can't tell the truth from one day to the next?

I doubt it. In fact I think we can count on whatever they say being a lie.

And besides, there's folks not going about their lives because they live in fear of all that. And they ain't being counted at all.

So, sorry, a cavalier less than 1 per day really don't cut it, unless you're lobbying for more.

Just being realistic. I'm not the one who posted a NY Times article that is behind a paywall . I didn't know the NY Times is a government agency

In 2024 the arrest rate in Hawaii was .14 per day. Now it's .8 per day.

I'm not in favor of more arrests, I just have a problem with sensationalized reporting.

"...The data offers the clearest look yet at the pattern and pace of immigration enforcement activities in the United States under Mr. Trump. It was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by the Deportation Data Project at the law school at the University of California, Berkeley, and covers immigration arrests by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations division.
It shows that immigration agents immediately went to work in January to pursue Mr. Trump’s goal of deporting millions of unauthorized immigrants. Since the beginning of his term, ICE has more than doubled its daily immigration arrest rate, averaging 666 immigration arrests per day, compared with fewer than 300 per day in 2024..."

You're imagining a problem that doesn't exist.
