Vibrant Hawaii's Resiliency Hub is offering it's Kaukau 4 Keiki Program for 2026. Sign ups are just around the corner so please tell folks who might not be on Punaweb:
https://www.vibranthawaii.org/kaukau4keiki Since 2021, Vibrant Hawaiʻi has served as the Sponsor Agency for the USDA Summer Food Service Program, Kaukau 4 Keiki, for the County of Hawaiʻi. Through its extensive network, the Vibrant Hawaiʻi program reaches even the most remote and underserved areas of Hawaiʻi Island, expanding access to food security where it’s needed most. Registration for 2026 Kaukau 4 Keiki opens on February 23rd at 6AM and will remain open through March 1st 11:59PM. Families are encouraged to register early. Registration IS NOT an indication that your child is confirmed to participate. Families will be notified of their status on June 1, 2026 via text message. How to Register:

While not a fan of trying to extort the PW community (your "do as I say or I'll delete this thread in 24/72 hours"), the goal of an easy to access list of resources for Puna folks sounds like a worthwhile project so will offer this item I ran across recently. Not strictly just for the moms with the childrens, but it might help a few more Punatics get that locally sourced morning smoothie when the season rolls around.
Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program "Every year, Hawaiʻi Foodbank partners with the State of Hawaiʻi Office of Community Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service to organize the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. Hawaiʻi’s SFMNP offers eligible seniors $50 worth of coupons (10 coupons valued at $5 each) to obtain eligible foods without charge from participating farmers, farmers’ markets and roadside stands that have been approved to accept SFMNP coupons. Through SFMNP, kūpuna are provided with nutritious foods as well as education to emphasize the relationship of proper nutrition to good health."

I had misinterpreted "post" as "thread" so my mistake, point taken. But asking Mod2 to "please, please remove and further restrict the posting in this thread of anything that does not help Punnawebbers be more resilient?" isn't very open, friendly, or inviting. You do understand this is a community message board that everyone is equally entitled to contribute to, correct?
I'll suggest again here that if you want to be able to dictate the terms of your project there is always substack (free), a subreddit on reddit (free), MyBB forums (free, same host and software as Punaweb). But if it's going to be on Punaweb, then everyone on Punaweb gets to comment and contribute how they wish - that's part of working with a community. ETA: lol - "several posters' vanities", "basket of adorables" - really just can't help yourself can you...

Edit Reason: "Wal-mart runs" sounded wrong
)
Punatics know how hard it is to get groceries out here. The best deals for us are at Wal-mart but it's expensive to get there and back in a vehicle, assuming you even have access to one. Bus trips to Wal-mart can also be daunting. One solution is The Wal-mart+ Assist Memership. If you have almost any type of government subsidy like SNAP, WIC, Medicaid (Quest) and more, for $6.47 per month you can get free delivery and more from Walmart. It's not just groceries - it's almost everything they offer. Without the subsidy it costs $12.95 per month. There is even a FREE 30 day trial.
