Regarding God

To begin with, by my recogning, any human being that is so presumptuous as to think they know about God in any way more than on faith, is clinically out of their mind. Seriously, we, humans, are still in the very early stages of our understanding of the universe we find ourselves in, and to think we know anything definitive is the height of arrogance. It is clinically impossible to be sure we know anything.

I say “on faith” because that is fine, you, or I, anyone who wants to hold on to a belief on faith, that works for me. I wish them well. After all, who would begrudge anyone that? Live and let live, right?

But no, TomK says he knows. Demands that we kiss his ring because, OMG he knows better than us. Which is a joke when we consider he doesn’t know about over 90% of what the universe, his so called specialty, is made of. He relies on a single point source for all his information. Detectable vibrations that reach Earth. And with so little to go by, he knows nothing, absolutely nothing about anything else. Even the assumptions he makes on the observable frequencies, all of them, on either side of the light spectrum, are assumptions built on Earth based observations. It happens here like such, so he assumes it happens all over the universe like such. All assumptions, he knows nothing. But, he has faith in his beliefs. His is no more, better or worse, than any belief based on faith. P’tang mentions his. Other’s have their’s. I've seen Pele act so much as if there is an awareness at play, but hell, I don’t know. Though it sure looks like it’s by design to me.

One of the cooler things about the East side of Hawaii Island community is the myriad of beliefs that live around us. Of which any of our’s, mine, your’s, Tom's, are but a fraction. But Tom has spent the last two weeks trying to pick a fight with anyone that would indulge him so as to rage about the fallacy of their's and the righteousness of his, beliefs. Which is a joke. A flaming bit of local insanity. Tom nips at Rob over and over trying to engage him, and Rob brushes him off.. like a gnat. Like a pest that’s so small there’s no need to reason, just brush it off.

Uncle Roberts guys have a space port landing site. There’s fruitarians, and vegetarians and Rasta brah all kines all over the place. There’s folks that would tell you any old kine I believe this or that, and you know, I don’t know any of it.. but I do know our minds are powerful enough to create all kinds of realities, if we let them. And, deny all kinds of realities if we don’t.

For me this is all very simple. I am a card carrying member of the Church of One. There ain't no church, building, there ain't no leader, or followers, and I assume every last one of you are members. Mine is just the clear and unshakable belief that the universe exists and every single thing in it is a part of it, and it is harmonious, it has order, and it works. In other words, there is only one god. And he/she/it.. if anyone needs a deity.. is in all and everything. Period. I have faith, but find trying to define what I have faith in to be futile. And more work than it is worth.

But hey, maybe Uncle Roberts guys have it right. Who Am I to say?

Rob made a simple statement. Edge’s explanation of that statement is as simple as the day is long. The moment those guys salvation fell out of the sky they believed. Why in all the worlds some stuck up guy that knows nothing needs to browbeat anyone about it is beyond me. Unless, that one is so malformed as to need to argue with others just to make himself feel important. When he could have felt that way without saying a thing. If he was really important.

I am as important as a grain of sand among a gazillion grains of sand washing up and down a beach with each surge of the ocean at its shore. To think I am, you are, Tom is, anymore is absurd.. when we realize just how little gray matter we have to think with.

And when we put into perspective how much we know of our own history, it's amazing anyone can profess to know, actually know anything about creation. Millions defer to the Testaments, and millions more the Bhagavata, whereas Forbidden Archeology tells an entirely different story. Even Jesus' life has so many tellings, who's to actual say? And that's only two thousand years ago. Still, some find solace in the telling of the life of Siddhartha, while in the telling of my own Tom Wolfe''s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test says so much that the uninitiated would never be able to comprehend.

Although if I was to suggest further reading I think Gary Zukav’s The Dancing Wo Li Masters might be a good place to start.. followed by his The Seat of The Soul. Gary’s cool, he’s tried to explain..

I don't think this thread is going to last long, and it's a bit odd that it's all aimed at me. Anyway, instead of a long response, I'll post the following, which is a relatively short collection of statements about religion from various people:

https://youtu.be/RJqkPutUCdQ?si=rIz6WWdlLhEzEw3D

https://youtu.be/SP611llVMYU?si=gY63Q0VpXQNuQPWu

https://youtu.be/-bfCZjZGYIQ?si=gOSRR397ElF35Qec

And then this: "Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong." -  Christopher Hitchens

As for Pele, well, the Big Island is less than a million years old, but somehow a goddess was created there. Who or what created Pele?

a relatively short collection of statements about religion..

Considering that none of this.. going all the way back to Rob's original brief statement has had anything to do with religion, except for tangentially, and barely at that, I take your post as just another example of poor comprehension... and an overwhelming need to edit reality to fit your own narrative rather than grok what's right in front of you.

Really Tom.. you're forgetting the power of your own silence.

Once again, you want me to stay silent. Why?

Rob claimed that  "And some say there is no God." I think that has something to do with religion. If you want to argue that a god has nothing to do with religion, well, good luck with that. In the meantime, despite people giving offerings to Pele, hundreds of people's homes were destroyed. In other terms, it seems Pele is an asshole and decided to wipe out people's homes no matter what. Scientific evidence suggests this was an inevitable event, but if Pele had decided differently, it wouldn't have happened. So you have to think there is no goddess, or Pele is a nasty individual, created by who knows what, who uses her powers to destroy people's homes and lives. Who created that goddess? Well, it must have been a superior god, and that god had no problem wiping out people's homes.

No matter what, we're dealing with gods and goddesses who seem quite evil, according to what you posted. Hopefully, you can now understand why I think your post is full of bullsh*t and ill-thought-out religious nonsense.

"Pele is an asshole". LOL. That slogan could have been a success by slapping it on a T-shirt after the 2018 eruption.

Because every time you open your mouth you make a bigger fool of yourself.

God, and man’s beliefs in god, are two wholly different things. The fact that you can’t distinguish between the two is the problem in a nutshell. On a myriad of levels, it exemplifies just how much you can’t see, how much you don't know. Here, there, at work, and I imagine when you look in the mirror, you’re blind. But hey, you’re entitled to your beliefs just like everyone else is their's. You know nothing, as does everyone, but omg are you a true believer.

For instance, above you say..

No matter what we're dealing with gods and goddesses who seem quite evil according to what you posted. Hopefully you can now understand why I think your post is full of bullsh*t and ill-thought-out religious nonsense.

And I have to wonder.. of all that I referenced..

• P’tang beliefs.
• Pele
• Fruitarians

• Vegetarians
• Rasta
• The Church of One.

• Uncle Roberts guys
• Rob’s simple statement.

• Edge’s explanation of that statement
• The Testaments

• The Bhagavata
• Forbidden Archeology
• Jesus’ life
• Tom Wolfe's The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
• Gary Zukav’s The Dancing Wo Li Masters and The Seat of The Soul…

What "seem quite evil” to you?

I suppose you suspect those Wo Li Masters of being up to something nefarious, especially when they dance, but what would I know? Hopefully you'll enlighten us.

Personally, it seems like Pele was being pretty modest actually - a brief and localized reminder that we all live in a zone of active geological creation performed by forces largely beyond our ken, and it's best to stay humble brah and go with the flow or seek less lively neighborhoods. In comparison, the Ailaʻau/Kualoloa eruption lasted ~50 years, covered 166 square miles, everything basically from Kilauea Iki to HPP, made Kaloli point, and left the longest known lava tube cave system (talk about a big 'a'a hole! ;)

Now I wish I had thought of that! That would have made you a fortune here in Puna for sure!

Back in the early 1980's as a radical feminist, I and all my women folk friends made a fortune selling this cheap and easy to make pin on button! There were also T-Shirts for sale with the same words, but those were for the more affluent radical feminists.

You know, I wish I'd have thought of that at the time, but I'm no entrepreneur, so it never occurred to me.

HJ/TK - I wish I had thought of that!

Not sure you'd get the reaction you're envisioning in the Puna marketplace of ideas. Probably best be ready to get an earful, maybe even a mouthful, as some people's beliefs are not just words, but fully embodied and not constrained by your expectations of "civil discourse" or "proper decorum".

But hey, gotta fight for those God/goddess given rights, so make a shirt and a sign, hit the streets, and picket the roundabouts for what you believe in - be sure to let us know how it goes!
