I don't know why you've done that. I guess you'll either explain it yourself or let others make up their own opinions.

In other words, I am right. You're a passive aggressive asshole. No reason, other than a sick soul being mean.. that's it.

And you call yourself a scientist. Go figure.

OK, you think you're right. Good for you. Personally, I think you're behaving like a child, but that's simply my opinion.

In honor of Yak's pointing out, if you're gonna tell a story first person perspectives are really the way to go..

Hey, cute, you know Jules, you kind of remind me of a time in my youth..

For a spell there.. maybe ’68 through ’72, I live in a small little town in the Sierra, named Westwood, population around 2k. A small little college town. Well really it was a logging town but a bunch of students from the school over the pass in Susanville filled the ranks as well. And, omg, in the winter it was snowbound. The kind where the snow would be deep enough one could walk right up onto roofs of the houses some years, and without snowblowers back in the day we did a lot of shoveling.. deep alleys just to get to a front door.

Anyways, Westwood was commonly known as a place that had more dogs than people. And when that snow set in often times going to the post office was the height of the day. And everyone sorta knew when the mail would be up, and it was as much the social event of the day as it was the chore of fetching the post. And a particular pattern emerged.

So everyone would stagger into town to get their mail, and then linger at the store, the only one in town, getting some grub to last out the next round of snow flurries as well as to chat amongst ourselves. And omg did the dogs get into it as well. If you were keeping track you quickly realized every single dog had themselves a real personality. And, of course, in a dog’s world there’s a hierarchy, the biggest, the meanest, and the strongest always had to pick a fight with the wannabes, the up and comings, and we pretty much had an unorganized dog fight every day right there in the parking lot of the store.

Now I, not being all that interested in dog fights, wasn’t one that was standing in the front row cheering on the big guy in whatever round of entanglement he’d be in with the one that wanted his ass, but would rather be swapping stories with my buddies over on the side, and then I began to realize there was this one dog that really had no fight in him. Every day he would hide behind the corner of the store and peek around it to watch all the commotion, and then as soon as one dog won and the other lost and they were both off licking their wounds he’d come out from behind that corner and bark away.. bark bark bark. As if now that all the fight and adrenalin was worn out of everyone else it was his turn to declare his superiority.. bow wow wow.

And, you know, Jules, you remind of him. No business in a matter but omg you got the need.. the deeply rooted need to bark. Oops, I mean post.

From here:
HJ - As for your claim of my "defense of the status quo" and all the other stuff, yet, you found it perfectly OK to defend another poster who called an accomplished Black woman a "black chick." I dared to be different, and called that out. But, you defended the poster and the term used as well as the poster's claim that it was his "culture" that allowed him to call her that.

Again, if you can point me to where I "you defended the poster and the term used as well as the poster's claim that it was his "culture" that allowed him to call her that" feel free. I said "Having not seen all the deleted messages, I really don't know MyManao's intent, and don't presume to guess." You just putting words in people's mouths is a bad look - or is this a "other posters are being trollish douche-bags so why shouldn't I be as well?" type situation?

Some of us have obligations that take us offline for much of the day, while the rest of y'all be wildin resulting in lots of deleted posts. I have no idea what all was said in my absence and so can't vouch for, or raise issues with, any of it. As for terms used, as the old rocking hippies once said "There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure, 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings" which raises the basic issue of "signifier and signified" in semiotics. As a lawyer, I'd hope you have at least a passing awareness of these issues with textual interpretation?

Regardless, looks like rain is settling down, so back at it for me - the weather is calling for board shorts, but the task requires a chain saw... hmm, choices, choices... Some of us, Frau Chunkster and I included, have the means to express our ideology through our spending habits.  Many, many folks in Puna do not have that luxury, however, so it would be nice for all the options to be put on the table without the political overtones.  Despite the efforts of Rob Tucker and Moderator2 (and the provision of a place to bicker) the downhill slide of Punaweb continuies.  It's quite sad actually.

Could not agree more ChucksterK.

I tried to discuss the nuts and bolts of the thread issue, but well first was told that my house is fictitious.

Then, after adding more nuts and bolts, I am apparently voting with my dollars and voting against my own interests blah blah blah.

Then, of course, I am voting for an infantile, fed on the breast of apartheid, spoiled brat who dreams of world dominance. Essentially, the Fourth Reich.

And then, add in that I am a lemming, with no morality.

Of course, wouldn't you know, I also have shallow convictions and support kiddie porn. But of course I do, because I sold all my morals.

I think you get the message. I won't bother with all the hypocrisy in all of this, my last post on the subject thread summed that up well enough.

In hindsight, my mistake was, has and is in replying to this nonsense in the first place. It is clear that there more or less can be no discussion of a subject matter, because all some desire to do is turn it into political crap and of course, replete with as many personal attacks as possible, along with simply being a pack of hypocrites sitting in judgement.

Yes, It's quite sad actually.

So this is before you moved to Hawaii after being brought up on the West Coast, right?

Boy, you're on a roll. Do you ever have anything to contribute, or is your whole life about being an asshole? I mean, come on, do those batteries ever run out?

Seriously Tom, grow up or shut up.*

And the funny part is all I ever said is I believe the land will be repaved, I like Toyotas, and am listening to Keali'i Reichel. And yet you throw a tantrum no matter. And, btw, I am a haole.. never said otherwise. Gee, every one of my books has my bio in them, and yet you wail like a stuck pig no matter going on with your list of make believe grievances. Maybe someday you'll learn to act like a scientist. You know, set aside emotions, gather facts, come to logical conclusions. One can hope, right?

I think it says a lot about you if you think I'm aggravated. I think your posts are amusing in a certain way because you don't seem to understand what you say in them. For instance, you just posted:

"And the funny part is all I ever said is I believe the land will be repaved [...]"

and go on to whine about all sorts of other things; how can anyone take you seriously? I suspect no one cares whether you like Toyotas or Keali'i Reichel.  How is that relevant to anything? As for setting aside emotions and gathering evidence (we don't gather facts as you claim), and coming to logical conclusions, I've done that. I know you make stuff up. The emotion is coming from you, which shows that you can't even follow your own advice.
