Larry Ellison is a Greedy Douchebag
#1
You would hope, at least with Larry Ellison's buying an entire Hawaiian island, that he would pay his fair share of taxes and contribute to the state, but...

"By moving his primary residence from Lanai, Hawaii, to Florida, before selling Oracle stock and collecting dividends, Ellison saved an estimated $1 billion in taxes, according to Forbes."

Imagine having $200,000,000,000 and being so desperate not to contribute to society...

Why offer minimal food and healthcare for those who would otherwise do without, when you can pass a law taking those resources away from the poorest of the poor, and provide a multi-billionaire with yet another billion?

And use it for another yacht?  Or transform another news outlet into a lying editorial purveyor of rich guy spin?

“Everybody gets a tax break!  You get $200!  I get a billion!  Your tax break expires in a year or two!  Mine is permanent!” (That’s what his “news” channels won’t explain)

Indeed. Billionaire D-bags are making a mass exodus to Florida to escape high tax blue states. At least Ellison claimed us for a while.  Mark Zuckerberg never has paid a dime of income tax in Hawaii, and he also just beat feet to Florida to avoid blue state gouging.  I think he hitched a ride to Florida with Jeff Bezos & Sergey Brin, purveyors of balanced news in a big fancy D-bagmobile.  Selfish jerks.

gouging contributions to society. At a lower percentage than most of us pay.  I bet those you mentioned don’t worry whether the price of gas affects their ability to pay a mortgage, buy food, insurance… at the end of the month.

Duh. Recently, I've haven't met a republican that wasn't. Even right here on the poor side of the tracks. In line at the market, on the next blanket over on the beach. Same same. If you still lean that way you're out of your frickin' mind. And selfish as the day is long.

It used to be otherwise.. friendly discussions about how much and where to spend taxes. Different methods of teaching the kids. that kind of thing. But once they denied climate change, weaponized Covid, and went on about face diapers horse meds and Hillary's emails it's all become a bunch of selfish lies. Just take the Election Commission for example.. pure selfish greedy douchbag lies.

MyMan!  Poor you!  I'm sorry you're having a hard time. Tom will be back soon.  It must be hard to go cold turkey - even for turkeys.  You should talk to your PCP about getting a brain.

I just singled out Larry because he bought up Lanai. To do that and not even claim part time residency seems pretty selfish and suspect. Pull his voting records and his flight logs, we'll get to the bottom of this!

If you're "voting with your dollars" by choosing Starlink Amazon, how does voting against your own interests by funding the corpos' and billionaires' enshittification of everything for everyone besides themselves make any sense? Unless by helping accelerate the instability and Balkanization you're working to achieve Hawai'i sovereignty, it's hard to see how such choices actually support and benefit those who live and work here in Hawai'i.

I'm also sure that your any unwillingness to mea culpa on Starlink Amazon sure has will le(a)d to a lot of verbal contortion. Would have saved a lot of time and agony to just admit you weren't aren't willing to vote with your wallet on that one.

You're correct to draw the parallel.  I'm just not willing (or financially able) to vote with my wallet on this one right now.  Though if Amazon continues to cut back on items that ship to Hawaii, or raises prices, that may change.
