I was hoping you would provide the evidence behind your statement, "factual sources of factual information". It's such a bizarre statement, but it implies you have some facts to provide. If not, it's just another empty comment from you. Jeeze, this is like arguing with a flat-earther. Nope. Research it yourself. And it has nothing to do with an empty comment. Just you, as usual, adding not one damned thing to the subject matter, but just picking yet another fight. And it is YOU that brought this on. Jeeze, this is like arguing with a block of Ohia. Dead with ROD.

Perhaps we can focus on whether there is something to be done to counteract Hilo losing another research facility? There were maps created when ROD started spreading. So the spread could be tracked. Will that be lost? Or buried in an inaccessible file with CO2 measurements? https://research.fs.usda.gov/psw/programs/ipif (04-15-2026, 06:17 AM)HereOnThePrimalEdge Wrote: arguing with a block of Ohia. Dead with ROD. I'd love to focus on that! About the only quick answer I can come up with is that the State step in and take it over. But how then does the State get the dollars to pay for that? Without cutting something else or raising taxes. Or, maybe, Mr. Benioff, are you listening? But then, if nothing can be done, in the short term, can it be recovered eventually in the long term, even with unlimited funding from any source?

I'm OK with HOTPE's post too. HOTPE asked 3 questions, none of which you provided any answer or rebuttal to. Then HOTPE made a general statement about maps of ROD spreading originally being created. Then HOTPE suggests that the spreading of ROD could be tracked. So, again, who is going to do that? Who is going to pay for that? What is the worthwhile goal?

ROD spread IS being tracked by the state. Tom is OK with focusing on whether there is something to be done about Hilo losing another research facility.
I'm fairly pessimistic about the future of Ohia on the Big Island. For example, the stretch of F road in Hawaiian acres that joins this subdivision to Ainaloa used to be a beautiful example of healthy, native forest, rich in Ohia and devoid of invasive species. Now most of the ohias appear to be dead. Volcanoes Park seems to be holding their own with the disease. It's hard to believe this is simply due to the voluntary shoe cleaning stations in a few locations. |
