The idea that some would twist all I said to imply I am saying it's an excuse to kill the AI users, is pathetic.

Then explain what you meant...

I already did.. and you cropped it out of your response.. go back and read it again here.. and in further detail here.

And for god's sake stop listening to the bs TomK spews. His comprehension is worthless. Seriously, ask yourself, why does Yak get it and Tom has to twist everything into his hate filled vengeance?

I'm not arguing further than this. Your claim is that by banning the whole of PW, "Theyʻll just come back ready for more."

I have no idea what that means or what evidence you base that claim upon. Who are they? If Rob bans all of PW's participants, I suspect it'll be the end of PW.

That didn't explain your comment. I stated the amount of CO2 used to create an AI image. You proceeded to make up the rest in your head. Your comment that I posted above was addressed to TomK, not to me. I cropped out crap words you are putting in my mouth. Check your own comprehension.

I'm not twisting anything. I've shown your posts and given my opinion. Unlike you, I haven't asked people to stop reading or "listening" to your posts; in fact, I encourage people to read them. I know Rob doesn't like it, but it's why I quote what you post. That way, others can form their opinions without you trying to change the facts. It's my opinion that you want people to die if they don't share your own opinion. My concern is that you might want to 1) threaten people in order not to share their opinions, and 2) you might be unstable enough to carry out your threats of violence. I don't care if you're upset about this; you've brought it on yourself with your own words.

Generating AI cartoons is a fundamental right for US citizens under the First Amendment. It doesn't matter if you think it's "a particularly egregious form of self-centered short sightedness". People can say what they think and you can attempt to defend MyManao's comments as much as you want. What surprises me is that you don't defend them, you just deflect. And what does:

"To hand-wave the mass extinction event occurring so as to defend the ability to generate silly stupid AI cartoons [...]" actually mean? It's meaningless poppycock. No one's hand-waving; most seem concerned that MyManao wants to kill people.

Destroying the environment to generate AI cartoons isn't really a fundamental right.

The environment will respond -- and it won't be pretty for us -- but extinction is just part of evolution.

Ah, but being stupid enough to think that it is seems to be, by the statistical analysis done right here, in this thread on PW, all the proof we need that there's enough silly human beings who are going to do it rights or not, that it's practically a done deal.

It's just the way it is with humans. They are so self centered, so unable to grok their infinitesimally small place in the grand scheme of things as to make up fairytales about so called gods that give them rights to dominate.. to take and destroy for no other reason than their own pleasure. It's my god given right.. it's my constitutional right.. blah blah blah..

They take land, they have killed untold millions in their quests to "own" and dominate lands that were "rightfully" other's. The story of the White Man is horror unleashed on Earth. And now, with no more to take they have turned to destroying all life around them. All other species. Their scientists tell them they are destroying the atmosphere itself, and all they can do is argue that the destruction is being done in such small amounts per act (one gram at a time) that they are free to believe in their so called "right" to carry on destroying for no other reason than their amusement.

Instead of objectively discussing the merits of their destructive acts some feign fear of violence by the messenger that points out that at some point some will stand up and defend the planet from their heinous crimes. And just like the natives right here in Hawaii have told them to get off their mountain they will be told to get off this planet.

My Manao, what is your carbon footprint?

Do you use a generator?

Are you off grid?

Do you drive?  How many miles per week?

How much CO2 is used watching your video you posted?

How many gallons of poisonous chemicals did you dump on the ground?

Mymanao, please stop. You and others pushing these exaggerated claims about AI power consumption are missing the fundamentals.
AI relies on high-speed graphics processors (GPUs) that perform vastly more computations in far less time than traditional CPUs. Yes, they draw more power per second. However, they also process far more data per watt, making them significantly more efficient overall. In practice, the energy required per bit of data processed by AI is lower than with conventional processors. This means AI systems actually save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions for the tasks they handle.
While you rant about AI as a massive power consumer, you overlook the far greater energy demands of traditional data centers and computers running worldwide — which dwarf AI’s usage. You’re not seeing the full picture because you’ve been misled by tunnel-vision commentators peddling fear-driven nonsense. It’s time to pull your head out of the sand and look at the actual data.
I don’t care what sort of idiotic, butt-hurt, ad hominem nonsense you come back with. It doesn’t change the fact that you’re missing the key facts on this topic and are making a fool of yourself with any continued arguments. Stop reading garbage fear-porn.

MyManao - and, before all is said and done, will be dealt with accordingly
OMG, you are saying we should crack open each other's heads and feast on the goo inside? Because there's no way this sentence could possibly mean anything else!

There will be no choice. Food will be rationed, water will be scarce, and those that take for themselves seen as taking away from the rest.
Oh, so maybe it could mean something else. For those that still read source materials and not just blended together slop amalgamations, Climate Leviathan has some possible models for the new political formations arising in a rapidly changing climate, from Global Sovereign Capitalism, to Climate Maoism, to decentralized indigenous responses.

And just like the natives right here in Hawaii have told them to get off their mountain they will be told to get off this planet.
Ok, so maybe they can just be shipped to Mars like so many aspire to anyways. Or perhaps they could live in a Matrix-like AI simulation of reality that feeds their neurons with only what they want to see and believe (oh, wait...)

TomK - It's meaningless poppycock.
Again, when plain English escapes your comprehension, it doesn't make it poppycock or codswallop - it makes it time to talk to your doctor about options.

Kane - AI relies on high-speed graphics processors (GPUs) that perform vastly more computations in far less time than traditional CPUs
Lol - the presumption that "AI" must be done, so at least it's not being done as inefficiently. How much power does AI take compared to not generating unending reams of slop? Or is that the slop must flow...

Wao nahele wahine -  what is your carbon footprint?
Don't forget those plane flights - they really add up quickly, especially to and from Hawai'i Nei, even more than the billions of AI images generated per month. If each single instance of pollution seems so insignificant, then feel free to lend us your backyard as we all have just a piece of daily rubbish we need to dispose of. Don't worry, you can also include your rubbish so it's all fair and reasonable. We all have a right to consume as much as possible and let others deal with the consequences.
