I am living my truth.  I also have my humanity...never lost it.

I would hope you would learn to ask questions as well as answer questions posted to you in the future.
My using AI once in this thread does not equate to me glorifying it or encouraging everyone to use it.

Let's hope you can reclaim your humanity.

BTW, I was going on about a senseless dick named MyManao and his hypocrisy.

They aren't feigned; I've quoted your posts. and your own words. You seem to be quite happy if people are killed because they have a different opinion than yours. I think people should be aware of the potential violence you appear to be threatening.

Punatang - You guys are just getting plain trolled by the guy who carries water for Josh Green's LNG expansion at the expense of renewable energy.
I must have missed this in the cross-posting yesterday, but MyManao's post on "While I agree with swapping out heavy fossils for light is a step in the right direction ..." makes sense in the small scale to maintain baseload generation, which is what HECO is doing with their Waiau Conversion Project - transitioning oil-fired generators to a flex-fuel design that includes biodiesel, biomethane (aka natural gas/LNG), and possibly hydrogen (which could be made from an excess of renewable energy which several countries like Ireland are already exploring).

What doesn't make sense IMHO is new fossil fuel commitments, which is what JERA and Gov Green are (were supposed to be any day now?) proposing.

Probably better to focus on doing the math and science about carbon emissions than trying to apply all-or-nothing purity tests and political gotchas. Things are really heating up out there (check out those Pacific Ocean surface temps! image is AI free and not a hallucination) and the clock is ticking, loudly for those who care to listen.

Thatʻs a good list, randomq but Iʻve seen every one of these posted in online news sources, mostly Hawaii News Now and Big Island
Now, Is it necessary to us AI to read the news? Iʻm not saying we should never use AI but if itʻs easy not to, why not go to the source instead of patronizing the theft of the source?
Certainty will be the death of us.

And therein lies the rub. Yes, Q great list, but as kalianna points out, the unlicensed redistribution of copyrighted material is theft.

And even more than simply taking of copyrighted material, which is the theft, it is taking away the motive for the original creator to continue creating.

Like it or not our 'free' society is predicated on commercialization. Some version of revenue exchanging hands for services. In the news industry it is an amalgam of fees, subscriptions, and being exposed to advertising, so that the content creators make their living on those revenue streams. You pay a fee, and then when you click on an ad the advertisers pays them an additional fee.

Of course there's "fair use" which provides for a limited reproduction.. such as a paragraph or two embedded in a post here rather than the outright reproduction of articles as some are want to do, which is a copyright violation.

So, if we take that step out of the equation, stop visiting the websites, and get AI buddies to round up the news for us and forgo fees and ads, we in essence take away the motive of the news services to get up in the morning and go to work. They'll get nothing for it.

If this dynamic is allowed to continue in the end AI is going to have to generate the news all on its own because the news services will close up shop. Of course there's all sorts of folks working overtime to stop that from happening, for instance the NY Times is one organization asking the courts for relief.. and there are others.. so we'll see.

Meanwhile, for those that don't want AI in their lives, who like to do a search and go to a website to get information, and honor the content creators.. I suggest https://www.startpage.com as the search engine of choice. At one point they put up a button.. click here if you want to try AI, but I never did and haven't seen that choice in a long time since.

Btw.. Q... All Hawaii News, a regular ol' hand tooled website.. has been doing the same for years.. https://www.allhawaiinews.com without AI.

I agree with both of you, and yet I think it's fighting against the tide. Like mp3's and the music industry, every industry has to change and adapt. Google and Microsoft sure aren't shy about plundering public web content for their own shopping and review and book and maps sites, never mind training their AI on it all and giving you snippets of sites and AI answers so you never even click through. And politicians have already passed laws giving them safe harbor to do so in many cases. Ultimately this is why Google is a $4 trillion company while many original source web publishers are scraping by. I think we need to shift to a fair model where sites can charge microtransactions whenever their content is used by another site, even if paraphrased or aggregated by an AI. Not just "let Google steal it" or "let Google steal it and pay them a percentage of a number Google determines".

Just so you know, I only used free RSS feeds for my "personal newspaper", which are snippets website owners have chosen to share with individuals for their own use. So I couldn't legally publish their snippets verbatim as my own content, I can just use it myself to filter just the type of news I'm interested in, or combine information from multiple sources to get a more complete perspective, etc. (With recent rulings, AI fair use training / transformation is somewhat of a grey area, but generally allowed if the content was acquired legally.)

MyManoa thanks for the allhawaiinews site, I was not aware of that one!

Let's not confuse AI news aggregators that simply crawl the internet and return headlines, a small snip of an article with full links to the original website and credit given, to AI that, as the NY Times lawsuit referenced, is where near identical articles as written by NY Times reporters appear as AI written articles, or where AI has been able to get past an organization's paywall and publish the article.

It appears that what randomq posted was simply a news aggregator.
