Copied here because it seems apropos..

As to Jules often cited..

Anybody know what Greggor has/will do? Outside of his normally stated "as long as it's done right" politician comment?

I don't see a problem with Greggor saying that at all. And wonder, what else is there to say? I too don't have a problem with geothermal "as long as it's done right" and think PGV is doing it right.

So, now that you're up on that soapbox brother 'Tang, what is there to say about PGV other than "as long as it's done right"?

Ask "most of us".  They are the one wanting white papers on every issue.

So, now that you're up on that soapbox...

How can anyone possibly get on the soap box when you're constantly parked on it?

So after all of my research and reading this very.. uh... ample amount of information, I just opened my ballot and discovered that as an independent voter I can only vote for county council and OHA. But I just canʻt support the two party system. Oh well. See you in November.
Certainty will be the death of us.

"Push Toward 100 Percent Renewable Energy for Hawai‘i Island
Hawai‘i Island should be the first in the state to reach 100 percent renewable energy with all the options available. Solar panels on roof tops are becoming more common and affordable, but still out of reach for many. Geothermal and biomass energy sources ensure a reliable source of energy when solar, wind, and hydroelectric power are not available. I will advocate for accelerating the timeline for our island to reach the 100 percent renewable energy portfolio because we need to be energy-independent and sustainable, while also cutting consumer costs. Prices for electricity are too high at over 40 cents per kilowatt. We can do better."

While it is very short on specifics, facts and figures, it is long on being a nice, cute and sweet generic and very safe position, I guess there is simply nothing more one could ask of Greggor on his position!

But I will say Greggor is right on one thing - we can do better. On who represents Puna at the State House.

In other words, the same as Hunt's so far.

That's how you see it? Where does Greggor see solar farms plus storage being built? What is Greggor's stance on imported foreign fossil fuels? What does Greggor think of geothermal expansion, DHHL's plans and using taxpayer money to perform studies for?

It seems as if we are trying to hold Greggor at a much, much lower bar than we are requiring of Tam. But then having said that, Greggor never says anything that could lead to him being asked any of these questions.

This whole Greggor vs Tam discussion is beginning to remind me of some of the late-night talk shows when they do a skit of going to one political figure's ardent supporters and ask them how they feel about a quote that the "other guy" said. Of course, the supporter replies with nothing but disdain, disgust, should be in jail, etc., when the host then says, oh, wait, that quote was NOT from the other guy, but from the supporter's guy. Of course, the supporter then fumbles and bobbles and mumbles, lots of throat clearing and says well, you know, people say things they don't mean...

Re: Geothermal expansion, I see his name as a sponsor on HB 1982:  https://legiscan.com/HI/bill/HB1982/2026

AFAIK, Ilagan has not made himself available to this forum in order to ask questions.  Yes, that's the way I see it.  You said:  "Short on specifics, facts and figures".  Which of those has Hunt presented that you find noteworthy regarding transitioning off fossil fuels for our power grid, besides his stated opposition to expanding geothermal?
