It was a pitch black night with a cloud ceiling. Not a star in sight. The objects were moving slowly left to right behind trees mostly. I had to catch them in a break in the trees. Took several attempts as the exposure in that dark a condition required some seconds. I eventually got the images I got by bracing my phone firmly on the lanai railing. Hand held just produced blurs. The images I photographed were below the cloud cover.

Drone or drones? I woke up at 1am once to a strange green light high above my property. Stared at it for a while until I heard the distant whining drone sound...

Drones seem likely, but…
Drones are supposed to fly at 400 feet or lower. This was estimated at 2000-3000 feet. It’s possible drones can reach that height or higher - - but someone would be breaking the rules.
Can you estimate size? Speed?
Did they sound like helicopters? The military does fly training missions, but at night over a populated area seems like a low possibility.

I'm more inclined to go with a fixed wing craft verses a helicopter.. and the left to right part leads me to think we're seeing the cockpit on the right, followed, going to the left, by the wingspan, and then the fuselage and tail section, pretty well defined.. and there's way too many different lights to be a drone. But like I speculated in an earlier post a single exposure of several flashing lights as the craft moves across the view. You can see that one light, towards the left in the pic, is brighter and blinks four times, while others blink 3, 6, and 7 times.
Nighttime low altitude remote sensing runs happen occasionally over the volcano. The night allows for the use of sensors that focusing on frequencies that would otherwise be drowned out by sunlight.

I think youʻre right. Those lights indicate that itʻs not extraterrestial and the fact that there are two of them separated by a space indicates fixed wing aircraft. And the space between them indicate blinking. Military? How will we ever know?
Certainty will be the death of us.

Tom says: "The image... is an airplane. The flashing beacon and navigation lights give it away. The beacon is a red flashing light that is both underneath the aircraft and on top of it. You can "see" both. The bright white lights are the navigation lights.
You can also see the left wing's light (red for port/left). The light on the other side would be green (starboard/right) but that's not visible because the fuselage is in the way."

Did Tom get it right, Rob? Are there more hints? Do you know for sure what you saw? I have a new entry I would like to enter into the thread but out of respect for you, and for the consensus reality etiquette that has developed in this thread, it feels like I should wait until your entry has been resolved. What say ye?
Aliens?
Drones?
Comet?
Airplane?
God?
Punt?

Edge, can we get a ruling on whether new what/wheres may be added when there are unresolved what/wheres stagnating in your thread?

Go ahead.
Rob can always circle back in the future if he chooses to.
