back to being a clown show. Actually.
How often do elections end in a tie? Rarely. Is it worth holding a special election to break the tie, in terms of time and expense? Probably not. Probably never.
There are numerous ways to then resolve a tie. King Solomon style? A duel? Feats of strength? Whatever it is, someone will argue against it. People who have finally given up on the invisible, non existent missing 18,000 or 19,000 votes probably need another meaningless argument to continue the non-issue of questioning our voting system. Something else that isn’t right, isn’t fair. An endless list of things that can go wrong. But only when your guy loses. Why is it never when your guy wins?

What? I thought it was 60,000 missing.. seriously, it was only 18k? Wow, and such hoopla!
But you're right, they don't care about the issue. Just grab one.. and they bitch until the cows come home.. and then bitch some more. With large font sizes to boot!
I'm telling you, Edge, it's those red hat's fault. They got special fabric.. when coupled with the nano-bots in the vaccines everyone got injected with.. that reacts to special frequencies.. 5G is a big one! And the wearers all go, in mass, bonkers... start seeing ghosts in every closet.. stolen ballots.. books that need to be burnt. Kids that should not be fed..
As to how to break ties in primary elections.. it is a no brainer.. redo the vote in the general election between to two that are tied. It's an election, let the folks elect. If it's a tie in the general, hold a special election. Simple. And nobody, nobody, could bitch about it. Except the bean counters, obviously.

LOL Edge. I had no dog in this hunt. One of the winners of the clown-show lauhala basket drawing of destiny actually had a problem with the process (as seen in the video posted above) and lamented that the voters should be the ones to decide. So there goes your theory.
You can't make this stuff up. Well, you can.

It'd be an acceptable method for me if I were a candidate.

I'm sorry that you're feeling confused and provoked.
Can you help me understand which part of the title you are referring to and how being provoked makes you feel?
Which part of the election raffle feels less clown-showish to you?

We do have a democracy crisis in our country and your post has nothing to do with it.
Clown show were your words, not mine.

I knew we could clear this up easily. This is Punaweb, which is ostensibly about Hawaii and Puna. My post has nothing to do with your "democracy crisis in this country" because it is not about your "democracy crisis in this country." Hopefully, that allays your feelings of being provoked.
Yes, clown-show were my words. I stand by them. It looked more like a clown-show than an election, to me. That is my opinion.
Which democracy crisis are you posting about?

My post has nothing to do with your "democracy crisis in this country" because it is not about your "democracy crisis in this country."
Isn’t the title of this thread “…Solves Democracy Crisis With Magic Basket of Destiny”?
To paraphrase Oprah, “You get a democracy crisis in America! Everybody gets a democracy crisis in America!”

And as for it being your opinion, of which, you're entitled to have, but what exactly about it was a "clown show?'
The law clearly states that a tied election, as what we had in two different elections, be settled by "lot." And it does not matter what the law used to be - can't argue with the cop when the speed limit changes that it "used" to be higher.
The method used by the Chief Elections Officer was in full compliance with the legal definition of settling a tie vote by "lot."
Would a coin toss be different? Some towns and cities in Nevada settle tie votes - by - a draw of cards or a roll of dice. Would that have been more or less of a clown show? Coin toss?
I can imagine however, that that a headline of "Hawaii Chief Elections Officer settles two tie votes in Hawaii by following prescribed law" would not gather as much hype as your opinions desire to instill.
So, yes, please clear up the confusion as to what you find and has formed your opinion that this was a "clown show" and that your posting of your opinion is NOT designed to be provoking.

If my opinion provokes someone then they have, what I call, a "personal problem". In the words of TuTu Tang, "Get over it."
