Meanwhile ... my pub is in a town of 200, USPS provides curbside delivery (over a vast area, down the highway, up the mountain, etc) and a post office that's staffed 20 hours/week. With posters saying USPS is hiring.
Not saying it's "better". Just that there are obviously "priorities". Or maybe our service levels are just "grandfathered". Government agencies are inscrutable, even when there's some obvious screw. But to claim "no new curbside delivery" because it's a "new neighborhood" is something I couldn't come up with.

Gee, with all of the inflation stoking money we threw around with the IRA of 2022, I guess we screwed over Puna? The mail trucks I see are barely rolling. They sputter and belch fumes. One wonders, who gets all of those fancy electric postal vehicles and chargers we allocated the 3 billion IRA dollars for? Seems like some of that sum could have come to Puna for something? Anything? Anyone? Bueller?

with the IRA of 2022, I guess we screwed over Puna?
Was it ever suggested that IRA money would be earmarked for postal service in Puna? Or is this just wishful thinking? Isn’t it more likely that Puna postal services won’t be expanded because there were multiple cuts to their budget including but not limited to dancing and hopping around on stage with a chain saw? Perhaps now with even less money available the Puna post offices are struggling just to offer the level of service they provided 10 years ago, with no chance or no money for improvement or expansion? We didn’t even get the gently used chain saw prop to help clear our roads after the recent storm.
If it’s absolutely necessary to place blame on a seemingly unresolvable situation, shouldn’t that blame be directed at an actual cause, rather than an imaginary potential solution?

For someone who demands clarity, that certainly is an opaque word salad. Chainsaws? Back to your trees again? Is any thread safe?

Speaking of word salads, I see the Tangy Tang Tang is once again using his Power Point Slide Deck of Talking Points, so, lets be clear here, but the IRA provided 3 billion to the USPS that was specifically designated for zero-emission and electric postal vehicles.
Regardless of Puna getting none or a brand-new fleet, how does that change anything with respect to Puna's current postal service problems? Does that suddenly mean all of Puna will get curb side delivery? Immediate construction of new Post Offices with thousands of new mailboxes? Mailbox peace and harmony in HPP? And, more importantly, how does any of this relate to the mail service issues in Lahaina?
And then, shockingly, the Tangy Tang Tang suggests that money come to Puna "for something" meaning to possibly suggest using the appropriated funds for one thing on another? Or is it now possible that suddenly the environment is being harmed by those sputtering and belching trucks?
At any event, I am sure there is money to fix Puna's postal service issues since we now suddenly have 1,345,000,000,000 dollars to pay every adult in America a "dividend." But there's strings attached there too!
Oh, and have you tried to buy a fricken chainsaw lately?

Might I suggest you look for a copy of the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics course at a retired person’s yard sale in HPP? It not only offers methods for speed reading but also comprehension. You’ll be breezing through your morning copy of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald before that first cup of coffee is ready for a refill! You’re welcome!

True that!
But you better be really safe with a chainsaw. *

Some people, dating back the late-1700s, saw the Postal Service as an essential government service, even naming it in the Constitution as a function of the legislature, but folks in the Nixonian-era thought it should be run like a business and reorganized it as such. How's that been working out? Probably best to also perpetually tie delivery costs of to the price of oil, which can never go up of course, because electricity and government investment is woke or something.
Oh well, the free market is right there with the solution obviously - just send everything via Fed-Ex and UPS. Right-to-the-door delivery with tight delivery times, which is what everyone wants, right? No need for Puna to have any mailboxes or cluster boxes or PO boxes at all. Complaints solved!

In the case of HPP, why have three carriers assigned to deliver mail for 12,000-14,000 people, when you can have those thousands drive ten miles to the PO, circle the parking lot, then stand in line for who knows how long on any particular day. Isn’t that socialism or communism interfering with my right as an individual to set out on a journey of personal discovery. Look! Another special offer from Spectrum! And after burning up a gallon or two of fuel, what convenience, there’s a gas station right across the street! Because we’ve all been told there’s plenty of gas available forever, but then, why does it cost so much?
