AI in Puna
MyManao - But by my reading it all depends on what version of php a site is run on, and as such would be concerned about PW, at least to the point of reading the fine print.
All the big hosts like gatorhost and Hostmonster/Bluehost (all of which are actually one company now - yeah, megacorps are always a good idea choom! ;) have been rapidly patching the backend php versions, so punaweb is probably good to go. Thanks be to the morlocks who keep all this technology running so us elois can banter about, largely oblivious to the sheer complexity of the systems we rely on.

randomq - I grew up on Perl; love it and miss it
Having thankfully just missed COBOL and punch cards, I cut my teeth on CBasic/A, then VB, Pascal (both regular and Turbo!), C/C++, with a side of HTML/CSS/SQL/Perl/PHP for the dot com revolution/bubble, and being forced through the tech stack in school from Assembly to Java at the time, but settling into Python as my daily do anything tool, that kotlin actually looks to be a useful and productive natural habitat - I'll have to check it out. Obviously pointless to try and make a career out of, but us v.7 Purists write code just for the sheer joy of it (like raking sand in the rock garden ;)

randomq - Personally I wouldn't even ban data-centers on the Big Island...
Well the Big Island is looking to restrict them in some way, once they can agree on a definition. You may want to keep an eye out for an opportunity to share some of your expertise and suggestions as testimony given they are still kicking around Bill 170. However, if "AI" is just becoming a commodity that turns electricity into tokens, Hawai'i is really going to have to up their adoption of low-cost renewable sources to compete at all.

Personally, I can't stand OOP. Way too wasteful and I don't enjoy it, so I let the AI do that coding (for smartphone apps). I had to do batch FORTRAN programming in college, that was enough of the "good old days" for me!

I think if we are clever crafting the laws, we can leverage data center construction to improve our electrical and network infrastructure.
