Land Use WG Meeting Oct. 7, 2006
Attending: Erica Johnson, Hannah Hendrick Athena Peanut, James H. Notes:
1. Our Land Use Working Group (WG) is creating four sub groups (SG1-4). We expect this to result in approx. nine working meetings per month of one type or another. We have a four month effort until we submit our recommendations to the Steering Committee. We expect 1/2 of this work to be spent on research and discussion and the last 1/2 to be spent on drafting recommendations.
2. There is continuing opportunity for people to join in these group efforts.
3. The topic lines are somewhat fluid and are not expected to be restricting research or thought.
4. Jeff Lux took minutes (Thank you Jeff) and they are attached here in PDF format.
Decisions made:
1. Rob Tucker will continue as coordinator through October until the next meeting in early November - location date and time to be notified by email.
2. Land Use Group will meet monthly in alternating locations around Puna District. Next expected location is in Keaau or HPP.
3. Sub-Topic Groups will meet twice a month. If you have not yet joined a sub group the time to do so is now. Contact the POC for one or more of the sub groups listed below. POC = Point Of Contact.
4. Each Sub Group will have it’s own coordinator who will communicate with Rob Tucker as to meeting dates and support requests.
5. An effort shall be made to enhance carpooling to meetings.
6. Four Sub Groups are formed currently consisting of:

Aloha, Welcome to the working group. Our first meeting is scheduled for Thursday Oct 19th at 4:00 PM. Meeting will be held at Shipman Offices, 16-523 Keaau-Pahoa Road, Keaau. On the agenda is a look at current zoning and ownership, with maps to be obtained by Peter. We will also review of examples of successful developments as brought to the table by members of the group. Good hunting in finding us examples of successful development practices. Bring your trophies! See you there!

The sustainability sub group meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 4 pm at 12-423 Ole'Ole St. , Kehena Beach Estates.
Travel directions: Take Highway 130 from Pahoa towards Kalapana. Turn onto Hwy 137 ( Kalapana Kapoho Rd. ) Proceed 1/2 mile past mile marker 20 to Ole' Ole. St. , the first street in the Kehena Beach subdivision. My house is a 2 story brown house located on mauka corner of Ole'Ole St. and the Kalapana Kapoho Hwy.
