Aloha- Just wondering if anyone knows the appropriate way to go about getting info. on renting a space at the markets in Hilo, etc. I make jewelry and I would like to take a shot at the market. When we visited I notice that there were a lot of people that did make their own stuff, but others I could tell just sold bought goods. Any info. would help. Malhalo- Lisa

The Hilo Farmers Market has a website, and here's a link to their vendor info page:

I have to give the Makuu Market a huge recommendation. It is THE place to be on Sundays in Puna. All the cool kids are there. I know of several businesses (mostly food vendors) that got their start at the market and later moved up to a storefront location.

I'm not sure where the Makauu-sp? Market is I know there is one off the highway I think in or by Pahoa. We went there on or way back from Kapoho to Hilo. It was pretty cool. Not sure of the name. But the Hilo market was pretty good. I'm looking to go to several so as many as there are and teh locations and names would be great.I'm sure once I look into it further I will get more leads. Mahalo- Lisa

I like the Makuu market also. It's biggest day is Sunday, although they are now open on Saturdays also. The Hilo market's biggest days are Wednesday and Saturday.
