I have heard some rumors of looting by people going into Leilani via the Forrest.
Do you ladies and gents have and info on this?
If I am incorrect on this Rob, please delete my new topic. I’m not sure how to do that and I don’t want to be party to spreading bad info.

During an interview with the press the head of civil defense confirmed that he heard directly from a resident that there was looting. He said he had not talked to the police.

Much discussion about this on facebook, but some of it appears to be confusion about known looting during previous lava events.

There are no official police reports of looters, but they are aware of the complaints. Magno added several police, fire and civil defense officials are feeling ill from the sulfuric dioxide smells.

If you think about it, there really is no downside to looting. I'm surprised more people aren't doing it:
1) Police are otherwise engaged, no chance of getting caught.
2) "All that stuff is going to get burned up anyway, I'm actually performing a service making these consumer goods available."
3) If #1 above fails, guaranteed "Boys will be boys" sentencing from Judge Nakamura.
4) Looters well armed from guns stolen, law-abiding citizens unarmed due to Hawaii gun laws.

Maybe declare martial law and then a shoot to kill on looters.... I mean, there isn't supposed to be anyone in there so they MUST be looters!! Shoot first and ask questions later!! Or hide the bodies! LOL

"Shoot first and...."
They sometimes call that shoot, shovel and shut up. The term originated with people illegally killing endangered species, but could apply to dealing with persistent criminals in communities with lax law enforcement.
Dealing severely with scumbags who loot during emergencies is a longstanding tradition. Including hanging. I've got a rope....

If there's any type of natural disaster then there's always rumors of looting. Doesn't make them true.
How many people were charged with looting last time?
Make sure you give accurate descriptions to the police.
