There has been no free County of Hawaii electronics program since April.
However, Mr. K's is accepting TVs, computers, etc until this Saturday at no charge. The person I spoke with on the phone requested I arrive between 9 AM and 3 PM, presumably they have more workers on duty then.

Thanks for posting this! I had just looked at their website yesterday and saw nothing about it. Does that mean that Sat. until 3pm is ok? Or need to do it by Fri.? I've had a big dead mac in my closet since 2020.

The person I spoke with at Mr. K’s said including Saturday. She added, they would see how it goes and may extend the time period, but no guarantees. The only thing posted on their website is under electronics, that there’s no charge. I only found out because someone at the County Zero Waste department mentioned it to me the other day.

TLDR version; County has no solution, take stuff to Mr. K's IF they'll take it.
Schedule of fees: Call for current pricing
Or check to see if the manufacturer has a mail-back plan: https://eha-cloud.doh.hawaii.gov/oswm/#!...ublic-list

After HOTPE's post of 10/20, I took three years worth of dead electronics to Mr. K's on a Saturday. They took my old computer, drives and lithium batteries.

Free recycling 12/10 - 1/14 as listed on webpage https://www.hawaiizerowaste.org/recycle/e-waste/
COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I ELECTRONIC DEVICE RECYCLING PROGRAM
The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division and State Department of Health is sponsoring free electronics recycling collection events for households, businesses, government agencies and non-profits.
Hilo: Mr. K’s Recycle & Redemption
815 Kino‘ole St., Hilo
December 10, 2022 and January 14, 2023, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
At their last event I took a pile of stuff that HELCO burned up over the past few years, 5 TV's, several computers, printers, etc.
They took everything, almost a small pickup load, no questions asked.

Ouch. Sounds like you need some UPS and/or surge protection.
Several years ago an electrician recommended this product to me. As outlets need to be replaced it's something to consider:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004U70SP6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=pw016-20&linkId=bc16b2e16a9c43c9ac8318f69793f56c&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
I don't remember the explanation any more... surge protection has less to do with total joules than it does with something else that I've forgotten.
The outlet barely fits into a standard box. If a GFCI unit fits, the surge protector should too.
