Hwy 130 / Shower Dr 7 AM
#1
I have to drive out early on Monday from HPP to Pahoa.  Does anyone for certain whether I can make a left hand turn from Shower Dr onto Hwy 130 at 7 AM?  I think the highway is orange coned by then, and want to be sure that doesn’t change the traffic pattern.
Thanks

I figure the stop light is faster than a left turn from Paradise or Maku’u.

I don't think you can turn left at the light in the morning.
I would take one of the cross streets like 1st 4th etc and go up Macuu.

According to the Hawaii Department of Transportation, you CAN make a left hand turn FROM Shower Drive onto HWY 130 (Pahoa bound) and with NO time restrictions.

The issue seems to be making a left hand turn ONTO Shower Drive FROM Hwy 130. (Into HPP bound) nduring contra-flow hours.

Revisions to the morning Hilo-bound contraflow configuration effective Monday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 14 | Highways

Thanks for the replies. I ended up taking Obie’s suggestion, Maku’u to Hwy 130, mostly because HiloJulie’s link was from 2024 (I think) and I didn’t want to chance that the county may have changed the traffic pattern without updating the website.

Nobody is on the road at 7 AM.  It was easy to get on the highway.  Went to Pahoa Transfer station, had the place to myself.  Long’s was the same, I was the only person in the store except the cashier.

I've made a left-hand turn from Shower during Iran-Contra flow, but honestly I don't remember if it was 2024 or 2025.
