Aynessazian vs San Buenaventura

Anyone know more about Aynessazian, other than she worked at United Way? And what is on her website and the Civil Beat Q&A?

Glad you brought this up.  I attended Joyʻs soiree at the Eagles and was quite unimpressed with her.  But she knows the ropes and has been endorsed by Russell Ruderman, who I greatly respect, along with several other groups.  Aynessazian was one of the plaintiffs who filed and won the lawsuit for transparency in the legislature.  She is also very concerned with improving medical care in Hawaii.  So Iʻm still undecided and would like to hear what others have to say.
Certainty will be the death of us.

Ms. Aynessazian's responses to the Civil Beat questions were thoughtful and interesting. She actually had some practical ideas about econimic diversification and legislative prodecural reforms. She does not, however, seem to understand that unions are part of problems such as corruption and economic elitism. She also seems to live in some fantasy world where the state will build not one,but two, alternate routes out of Puna. We'll be lucky if we get one . . . twenty years from now.

For the frau and me, it comes down to both of us having had more than one face to face conversation with Joy Sanbuenaventura. It was a profoundly disappointing experience every time, and we were left wondering how she passed the bar exam.

So, as usual, we are going with the outsider.

I have noticed that you can hand Joy lunch on a platter and she will not quite know what to do with it.

Just my opinion.

I'd echo ChunksterK's comments on San Buenaventura 100%

She has always given me the impression when she speaks in public, especially in the halls of the State Congress, of being what I would call befuddled. Further, she also comes across to me that she seems to be somewhat afraid and nervous in her posture, her voice and her demeaner. She has always given me the feeling that she is a kidnapped victim making a ransom video praising the kidnapper while the kidnapper is aiming a gun to the victim's head off camera.

But what did her in with me was her stance on the State Supreme Court Chief Justice. While in no way giving Devens a free pass on what it is he did, her anti him stance again to me seemed as if she had been bought and paid to say the things she said about him and vote the way she did. I also find it all ironic given everything that has happened with Luke during and after Devens' confirmation especially given her unbridled support of Luke at the time.

At any event, as for her opponent, whom I know nothing about, but did read her responses to the Civil Beat article and would once again echo ChunksterK's comments with respect to her answers.

I would also point out, that I see NO responses from San Buenaventura on the Civil Beat Candidate questions, which seems to be apparently OK that the current incumbents for Puna's House and Senate seat apparently feel no need to answer.

At any event, having a vote in this particular election, I support Aynessazian.

As I have said before, I wish more people would apply for political office, but alas it's a special kind of person that wants to take up that mantel, and to be honest when looked at from afar they, collectively, are very strange people. And, I too, having had a direct, working, relationship with Joy find her to be a strange bird, to say the least.

But that doesn't discount their effectiveness when in office near as much as interpreted by the armchair judges of social media. A case in point is the just posted, by Obie on Punatalk, piece on Pohoiki that expresses a point of view from someone who is actually involved in the matter, verses the new shiny bauble that doesn't seem to understand local affairs as much as want to convince everyone that he does.

Again, I wish the choices were better, greater, and our form of government wasn't as much of a popularity contest as it is. But alas, eh? I also wish all candidates had to participate in if not the then something similar to the CB questionnaire. And I wish it was longer, more in depth, and specific to each district. But I am glad mine is not the 4th, although I find the piece referenced by Obie, and linked here in the paragraph above, to be mighty powerful, and well worth consideration.

As to the point 'Tang just made over on the Pohoiki thread, maybe someone can enlighten us about the alternatives to Green for gov.. start a thread.. I know nothing.
