Long time country music performer Dolly Parton has passed away. With a long and storied connection to Hawaii, her loss will be unforgettable.

Dolly was a gem.  The greatest country song writer of her generation.

So much about Dolly and Hawaii, including help after the Lahaina fire:

I will always appreciate her first as a open and honest person. I think her greatest skill was simply connecting with people.

A sad day. Ms. Parton was not just a one of a kind composer and performer, but she was one of the most decent, compassionate, and tolerant figures of our time.

Rest in Peace, Dolly. You will be missed.

I still can't believe it...tho I know it's true. She did so very much, in so many ways. From music, to books (the BOOKS!!!)...to showing empathy and tolerance...opening doors and hearts!

And now mine is broken.

It seems only fitting that Dollyʻs last act of kindness was to steal the headlines, to let us focus on her for just for a few moments, rather than on the disturbing national and international news that normally awaits us.
Certainty will be the death of us.

First Dolly and now Tim Curry? I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea (or insert beverage of choice here), but I for one am fully wrecked. ...just...*sh!t*.

In 1988 Dolly broadcast a special from Hawaii.  It included local legends, local folk, interviews, beautiful scenery, and of course plenty of singing.  It’s a moment in time.  Almost 40 years ago, one paniolo lamented how things had changed, wondered whether his life on the land could continue.
