Gov. Lingle, Veto House Bill 1212
#1
Honolulu Advertiser:

Hawaii legislature has passed a bill that would shield the public from complaints about real estate agents, doctors, barbers and other licensed professionals.

The measure has been passed by the House and Senate. It now goes to Gov. Linda Lingle.

"The measure would exempt from the state's public records law all complaints filed against licensed professionals listed in Title 25 of state law, except those that are resolved against the license holder.

It is opposed by the state Office of Information Practices, the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and Hawaii Common Cause.

The Hawaii Association of Realtors and the Building Industry Association-Hawaii supports the legislation."
