Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding
Couldn't agree with you more HOTPE!

One has to ask however, if having the guy whose SOLE foundation of his current business "empires" that are what they are today because of the direct benefits from various local, state and federal government subsides, tax credits, loans and contracts of over 38 billion over the last 20 years is really the best guy suited for cutting government costs and finding fraud and corruption.

Did you catch the "cold open" on SNL this past Saturday?

Search for it on the YouTube. Be prepared to cry yet laugh your ass off.

What is one of the most recognizable agricultural crops in Hawaii? Anyone? Anyone? Living in Hawaii, who here has enjoyed a cup of Kona coffee? Anyone? Anyone?

Trump's bid to gut the U.S. Agency for International Development is impacting research into coffee.

The Synergistic Hawaiʻi Agriculture Council supports specialty crops, including coffee. It said a $6 million USAID grant to develop coffee trees resistant to the fungal disease coffee leaf rust has been halted.

I can't make heads nor tails of this thread.

Thread? Dear old chap the entire site has become a poo-show dumpster fire of national and even international politics. There is no heads or tails or moderation so you're doing fine. It is what it is and you get what you pay for.  YMMV
I wish you all the best

There is no heads or tails or moderation

Quite recently it was suggested there was too much moderation.
Sometimes a moderator has to let the various YouTube videos, beard discussions, Puna with national or Puna with international related posts stand, something for everyone.

I can't imagine who or what group of who would have suggested that!

So, saw this, and while it does not impact my family or really anybody I know, I am sure this will impact quite a few Hilo residents.

I'm also quite sure that should this closure come to fruition, it will be immediate, with no warning and no pre-planning as to what comes afterwards, so I'd highly recommend that if this does impact you, start making alternative plans immediately.

Downtown Hilo post office could close or be sold by Trump Administration : Big Island Now

Hawaiʻi food banks report canceled shipments and frozen funds amid federal cuts
Six shipping containers worth of food for the Hawaiʻi Food-bank, were scheduled to be shipped to the state during the first half of the year. But those shipments have been canceled.

"Hawaiʻi food banks report canceled shipments"

The part that I'd love to see looked into is just exactly what happened (or happens) to the food that was scheduled to be shipped here to Hawaii?

I'm going to go out on that preverbal limb here and I'd venture to say that if an in-depth investigation was done, we will find that the food was disposed, most likely in a landfill, and at a total cost greater than what just shipping it would have been.

But you got to draw the line somewhere. Right?
