Pomelo fruiting
#1
Aloha! We have a 15' Ben Hu pomelo planted in January 2014. Sun from late morning to late afternoon. Tree and leaves look vigorous and glossy. Have never seen it flower. Tried higher potash fertilizer a few years back. We're at 1200' in Mt. View. Also, anyone growing lychee? Best variety? Thanks!

My Ben Hu is younger and smaller than yours. At this point I'm just working to get it larger as it seems to be in a poor growing spot.
Yours sounds like it's large enough to fruit. It should be very soon! Citrus in general does well in Puna.

Kaimana is the best variety of lychee.

Thank you! Yes, all of our other citrus do well. Planted avocados on the other hand are growing well in well-drained cinder with organics. Have the requite A and B varieties for pollination, maybe this is the year for them to fruit...

I have a pomelo in HPP, about 10-12 feet high, 10 years old. It fruited this winter, but the fruit never developed properly due to the drought.  Didn’t give it any nutrients, it’s growing in cinder soil.
