RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - Obie - 03-07-2018 It's going nowhere ! SECTION 12. This Act shall take effect on December 31, 2033. It's also unfunded . RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - TomK - 03-07-2018 The date means nothing, it's normal for bills like this to have a date well in the future which then gets amended. The bill also includes actions that would happen well before 2033, so you can ignore 2033. I suspect they just chose that date since it's the end of the current lease for the science reserve. RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - punaticbychoice - 03-08-2018 Tomk @ 20:35:36 03/07/2018- Yes, typical practice. RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-09-2018 If OHA expected to have any additional input or decision making power about the management of Mauna Kea, they may have to take care of other matters first. The FBI is looking into their spending and how contracts are awarded, and the board has lawyered up. Former Governor Cayetano has suggested the entire agency be abolished: http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/37684680/fbi-joins-investigation-into-oha-spending-contracts Declare yourself a success: you'll be admired by those who've declared themselves failures. - Last Aphorisms RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - TomK - 03-09-2018 Good. RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - Chunkster - 03-09-2018 Way overdue. RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - TomK - 03-23-2018 Got this in an email alert: http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/37788967/amid-growing-corruption-probe-head-of-oha-put-on-paid-leave "The Office of Hawaiian Affair's board of trustees went behind closed doors to debate the future of its embattled CEO amid a growing federal and state investigation into the agency's spending. While no decision was made today, several sources say that five board members want to oust CEO Kamanao Crabbe, who has held the post since 2012. The board needs six votes to remove him." Further: "Crabbe's supporters urged trustees to keep Crabbe, saying board infighting is distracting OHA from fulfilling its mission." Right. Everything's OK, ignore the fact the FBI is now involved, it's just down to a bit of board infighting. Nothing to see here. https://youtu.be/5NNOrp_83RU RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - punaticbychoice - 03-23-2018 TomK @11:26:05 03/23/2018- '"Crabbe's supporters urged trustees to keep Crabbe, saying board infighting is distracting OHA from fulfilling its mission"' And after 40 years since 1978, what exactly is that mission in concrete, real life terms? What has OHA accomplished for the ordinary Kanaka Maoli in pursuit of this supposed mission? RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-23-2018 punaticbychoice says: after 40 years since 1978, what exactly is that mission in concrete, real life terms Yes, exactly. That's the real question isn't it? Another question might be, why don't people demand an answer? If you want to combine the dual pleasures of insanity and social acceptance, religion is your only choice. - Last Aphorisms RE: Should UH manage Mauna Kea's summit? - Obie - 04-02-2018 It's back. http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2018/04/02/new-life-for-mauna-kea-authority-bill-after-gut-and-replace/ |
