I believe the statement means that the county may have to enter a homeowner’s property in the process of restoring the road.

Thanks, It was late and my brain came up with the wrong conclusion.

It is interesting to note that Obie's (I assume he thought he was speaking for county) April turned into PGV having figured out that giving to the community is a good thing. And, of course, now county is hemming and hawing with a maybe, we'll hope for the best, if we can, by October? Even though nobody seemed sure where the funding is coming from... yet.

At least things are moving in the right direction. Though seeing a thing so simple take so long is a lesson in how what is pono to one escapes another.

All that county stuff is from a HNN feature last night on the tele...

Hey Obie, it's almost the end of April, what happened to your D9s?

For real dude, what happened?

Meanwhile, Big Island Video News just posted footage from a April 24 County Council meeting where they are still at a loss as to when anything will actually happen. What a cluster f*ck our local government is.

And the fact that the people effected haven't filed a lawsuit against Harry specifically boggles the mind. Harry and his sidekick Diane Ley should be ran out of dodge.

I suspect your opinion is wrong.

The incompetence of the County really comes out in that video. "Waiting on permits"...

Get the Mayor or the Governor to pick up a phone and start calling these departments that are in charge of these permits and grill them.

"Waiting on permits"...

Never forget that permits are the single most important thing.

the people effected haven't filed a lawsuit

Taking action against County means you have to leave the island, so it would appear that those people still want to live here despite being forced from their homes.

those people still want to live here despite being forced from their homes.

Choose your option:

* County, which approved access to those properties, through no fault on their part, no longer allows access.
* County, which approved access to those properties, through no action on their part, no longer allows access.

Glinda, I thought you had friends down in the kipuka ?

There was a preview of Hawaii News Now's documentary "Pele’s Path: The Journey Home" held at the Naniloa on Sunday at noon. Your friends didn't invite you ? I was there along with a lot of friends including kipuka friends.

It will air on KHNL on Friday at 9:00PM if any of you are interested.

We all agree that our county is totally dysfunctional. It's the bureaucrats that are the problem. They are entrenched and all but impossible to remove. Of course Harry is a big part of the problem but the fact that the county has no money come into it too.

Watch the documentary !!!

In answer to Glinda's question about when the D9's will roll. They already did.

the fact that the county has no money

County says this all the time so it must be true, but I would still like to see some numbers -- higher real estate valuations, new GET surcharge revenue, State and FEMA recovery aid grants ... where did all the money go?
