RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 08-15-2017 "I can find a Bible quote to support any position." RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - punaticbychoice - 08-15-2017 gypsy69 Ever hear of a non-sequitur? By the way, gypsy69 beats their spouse and dog. There, see how easy that is?[] RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Frank - 08-15-2017 gyp69...your thoughts on the TMT views of Kalepa Baybayan would be appreciated. mahalo RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Guest - 08-15-2017 Punaticbychoice Nice try choice, going on 25 happy years next month with the same spouse and we don't have a dog. Kalakoa The bible is a great book to read, more from the last few generations could find reading the bible a good thing today. Back to the TMT contested case hearing status. http://khon2.com/2017/07/28/oral-arguments-set-in-tmt-contested-case/ Frank, Mahalo to you. I have nothing but the greatest respect for Kalepa Baybayan. Pua Case cross examined Kalepa in the TMT contested case hearing and it was an interesting 25 minutes. If you have not seen it yet it's worth watching and here is the video. http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2016/11/02/video-tmt-case-kalepa-baybayan-cross-examined-by-pua-case/ With 23 parties having the right to speak up to 15 minutes and the BLNR led by Stanley Roehrig able to ask several following questions when ever they want. These upcoming Oral arguments may take more than a few days. let me leave you with one great video to watch again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7EQ2--BA0A RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - punaticbychoice - 08-15-2017 gypsy thanks, now we've established your married for 25 years and you don't have a dog. So?[] RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 08-15-2017 gypsy says: I don't trust Mr Apo and or his decisions or choices. Not to trust one person, who is not even personally involved in the development or construction of a $1.4 billion project doesn't seem like a strong argument against the approval process. Does this "don't trust" standard apply only to projects over a billion dollars? A million dollars? A dog house? If impartially and properly applied, we can all plan to move back into caves and lava tubes in the future. (It's) what the existentialists called "awful freedom" the reinvention of irrationality by marginalized people, just in order to spite science. -Elif Batuman RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 08-15-2017 Does this "don't trust" standard apply only to projects over a billion dollars? I don't trust anyone involved with rail, does that count? RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - MarkD - 08-15-2017 Just watched the Kalepa Baybayan-Pua Case exchange. The discussion reminded me of something that I thought the first time I visited ‘Imiloa some years back: the concept that astronomy and native Polynesian way-finding are inherently linked is a stretch. Also believe that perhaps just one person--definitely a pretty insightful individual--came up with this idea. Certainly it is a brilliant public relations strategy. (Big effort with all the displays in ‘Imiloa to establish the link.) Obviously the intent is for the astronomy field to claim native Polynesian "cred" by sharing a mission with this group--exploration of the stars. But again, the link seems tenuous. To the Polynesian wayfinders the sky was(is) largely a map for navigation. A tool, as it were. Their objective is not knowledge about the sky (other than novice wayfinders memorizing star patterns), it is seeking knowledge of their whereabouts on the ocean (continually tracking their whereabouts). Astronomy, briefly, seeks knowledge about the universe. Am I mistaken? RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 08-15-2017 To the Polynesian wayfinders the sky was(is) largely a map for navigation. A tool Simply a matter of scale. Stars visible with the naked eye provide enough information to navigate the surface of our little planet. What might we navigate with TMT? RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - PaulW - 08-15-2017 MarkD, even 10 seconds of googling shows your statement to be just plain hogwash. http://what-when-how.com/ancient-astronomy/polynesian-and-micronesian-astronomy/ |
