Would Oahu voters also vote yes to building the TMT on Diamond Head mountain?

Did the Big Island residents get a vote on Oahu's Railroad project, what were those results like?

After experiencing first hand several "KILL Haole days" in Many of Hawaii's public schools growing up here. I feel The Governor should also be concerned that All those that lack HA in Hawaii may become future targets of bullying AND Hate crimes if the TMT "IS" built atop Mauna Kea, not just the students. Jmo.

I'm thinking Gyp is going to delete this so I have to save it.The rail project is being funded by part of the GET tax that only Oahu residents pay and the TMT is privately funded..

The protestors had my sympathy until they went up there and started throwing rocks around and building shelters ... sacred ground indeed.

They should all be sentenced to five years for tampering with ground that has cultural significance..

HART also captured some Federal transportation grants. About $1.5B, if I recall correctly.

More to the point, HART construction was slowed by "protector" lawsuits, but the State/City&County basically said "screw you, we're building it anyway".

How "ironic" that they found backbone to complete (well, sort of) a project that attracted a similar amount of "foreign" investment...

Are you saying the Protectors are just a bunch of "Kill Haole Days" students who grew into adults, but still act like teenage bullies?

The moon kind of surprises me sometimes. I’ll be out at night and I’ll see a nice moon, and say, “Hey, that looks good.” Then I’ll say, “Oh sh-t, I went up there one time!” Kind of surprises me. It’s like there are two Moons, you know—the one that’s usually around, and then that one. - Michael Collins, Apollo 11 astronaut

Since we are going completely off topic, again (no disrespect to you, HOTPE, and Gypsy, but you brought it up), I will add my personal experience. Going to a "haole school" (known as the "best school west of the Rockies" back in the day; Punahou), and being one (1) of eight (8) Hawaiians in my entire class, the "bullying/teasing" we experienced was mostly from the "haole" in our school. It goes both ways. Still, I'm well educated and having lived through such disgusting behavior, made me a stronger person.

Now, back to topic, the documents in the link above still do not show any decision regarding the Motion(s) to Continue, nor to remove Judge Amano. The only updates so far are amended witness lists. The orignally set date for the next hearing (August 5th) is soon upon us; decisions/rulings must be made within the next fews days, one would think.

JMO.

ETA: Clarity

no disrespect to you, HOTPE, and Gypsy

None taken opihikao.
I only posted as I found gypsy's comment confusing, and had hoped he would clarify as to whether he thought it would be the main opponents of the anti-TMT who would bully pro-TMT people, or if not, who he believes would bully pro-TMT supporters.

Personally, I don't think anyone would. If gypsy supports the Protectors and their cause, I don't think his comment exactly bolsters their case.

Things have toned down on-line with the members of PUEO coming on to the scene, in fact some have been surprisingly quiet. However PUEO's facebook page still has a few people being profane and irrational. It's not hard to guess what direction the bullying is going based on past behavior. Hopefully aloha will be restored and more cooler heads will prevail.

Gypsy already has a bit of a history of threatening violence here as well as supporting criminal activity, so I think asking him to clarify his comments is warranted.

FYI: Update (*Snipped - more at link)

http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news/local-news/multiple-motions-filed-tmt-case-hearing-set-today

Participants in the Thirty Meter Telescope contested case have filed a flurry of motions ahead of today’s meeting in Hilo, from declaring Mauna Kea sacred to ongoing challenges to Riki May Amano’s selection as hearings officer.

The hearing, scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Hilo YMCA, will be the first Amano held since June 17 when she increased the number of people and groups participating from seven to 25.

Aside from a site inspection on Mauna Kea, the proposed site for the $1.4 billion observatory, it could be the last meeting before the evidentiary hearing begins, possibly in October.

If the motions are any indication, there is still quite a bit to sort out.

Since the last meeting, the attorney for the original six petitioners renewed a protest over Amano’s selection, claiming the state entered its contract with her prior to hearing objections.

“It was ‘the cart before the horse’ all over again and the Petitioners did not have an opportunity to be heard at a meaningful time and in a meaningful manner,” wrote attorney Richard Wurdeman in a motion dated July 26.

He was referencing a comment made by state Supreme Court justices when remanding TMT’s Conservation District use permit back to the state Land Board, resulting in a new contested case hearing.

The court ruled in December that the board violated due process rights of project opponents, many of whom consider the mountain sacred, by approving the permit prior to the first contested case, which involved the University of Hawaii and six petitioners.

Another party, Dwight Vicente, filed a motion to dismiss Amano by asserting that the Hawaiian Kingdom still exists and the state lacks jurisdiction.

Sometimes I wish "they" would give the Kingdom everything it wants, just to see what happens next -- safe bet the Kingdom would get invaded (by China) and expect the US to "rescue" them.
