RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-29-2017 At $69,167 per location, I hope they are getting some good internet speeds... Meanwhile, the most visible and vocal Hawaiians are trying to block a telescope that will... particularly benefit Hawaiian youth through educational investment. What's wrong with this picture? Perhaps protests by the most visible and vocal Hawaiians are misdirected? Perhaps that's principally due to unrestrained and unsubstantiated comments made by "The Protectors" which are often untrue? "Protectors" who in their narrow and short-sighted focus may themselves create more harm to the Hawaiian people than is possible by any zero-waste telescope on a mountaintop? A high summit now accessible to the Hawaiian people where they can practice their religion after they drive up an access road constructed by the observatories? Rather than face the consequences of the death penalty by their own ali'i because they are commoners caught trespassing? “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 10-29-2017 Perhaps protests by the most visible and vocal Hawaiians are misdirected? They're just upset that TMT will get a homestead before they ever do. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-29-2017 TMT will get a homestead before they ever do. Home, home on the range Where officials & contractors get paid... “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Guest - 10-29-2017 Meanwhile others have been given support and resources for their dreams and hopes of what Mauna Kea should be or look like in the future. http://www.westhawaiitoday.com/news/local-news/ige-taps-kim-lead-working-group-mauna-kea-peace-monument Eric1600, Mahalo for sharing your opinions and thoughts about the mans tirade at the meeting that turned your stomach. Wonder how he and many other Kanaka's have felt about issues like this one which was finally recently resolved some hundred or more years after the fact. You may recognize one of the Kanaka Gentleman in this video. http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2017/10/27/video-germany-returns-iwi-kupuna-to-hawaii/ RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-29-2017 Wonder how he felt about issues like this one Since the guy never stops talking, how would he ever find a moment to thoughtfully consider an issue of any kind? “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Guest - 10-29-2017 HOTPE, LOL. That last inconsiderate comment of yours comes from someone with nearly 5,000 posts here on PW. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-29-2017 That last inconsiderate comment... comes from someone with nearly 5,000 posts Yes, but as you can see by my reply here to the comment you made, I take the time to read and consider what others have said. “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - TomK - 10-29-2017 "That last inconsiderate comment of yours comes from someone with nearly 5,000 posts here on PW." I fail to see how the number of posts someone has made on PW is related to someone disrupting a meeting and shouting so much it was impossible to discuss anything. Does the number of posts someone has here prevent others from posting replies? I'm genuinely curious and want to understand how you equate the two. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Eric1600 - 10-30-2017 Eric1600, Mahalo for sharing your opinions and thoughts about the mans tirade at the meeting that turned your stomach. Wonder how he and many other Kanaka's have felt about issues like this one which was finally recently resolved some hundred or more years after the fact. You may recognize one of the Kanaka Gentleman in this video. There's no doubt that people are emotional over the TMT, in fact that's the only way any of these protests really can be justified. Do you personally think his speech was acceptable at the BLNR hearing? Are you fine with how he talked about Samuel “’Ohu” Gon III? RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Guest - 10-30-2017 Eric1600, good morning to you sir. Yes, I am fine with the way he talked about Sam Ohu Gon. Sam Gon is not a true Kanaka, therefor the Kanaka are not being represented properly at those state meetings. Sam Gon should not be deciding the future of the remaining Kanaka's, jmo. I have deep respect for Sam Gon and like most of his talks and lessons. This one is one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9fv_2XIJBk Should Sam Gon be the one representing and voting on the TMT issue for the Kanaka's and Why? What gives Sam Gon the right over so many Kanaka's fate? Is he Kanaka? Was Sam Gon's ancestors IWI buried on the summit of Mauna Kea? Who at that state meeting should be representing the Kanaka's and why? Some Kanaka's may feel disrespected and unrepresented at those state meetings that are deciding the Kanaka's and their Keiki's future. jmo |
