RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - glinda - 11-09-2017 quote:Seriously, wouldn't an asteroid strike be considered humane when compared to the "mass extinction event" our inability to control our own greedy give me give me give me behavior which is already bringing one on already? I mean, rather than a long drawn out scenario in which millions upon millions of environmental refugees suffer untold horrors a quick, swift, whack upside the head might be a better alternative. And beside, considering all the ways a billion plus might be spent to help those in need, or to develop alternatives to CO2 emitting devices, or a myriad of other more worthy causes that a bunch of rich folks staring at the stars. I mean gee, you all go on and on about that f*cking telescope as if its a god. Some deity you all jack off to or some such. Sure staring at the stars is all fine and good, but my god, people are suffering, the planet is being raped, and you all squeal, like stuck pigs, whenever someone disses your sacred telescope! RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - PaulW - 11-09-2017 quote: Another classic from glindakine, saved for posterity! RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-09-2017 Another classic from glindakine No doubt typed on his CO2 powered computer, in which he breaths into a tube that enters the inner workings of the computer, perhaps operated with photosynthetic drives and xylem powered relays, reducing his carbon footprint to that of a 6 month old menehune. Hope he didn't drive anywhere today in a car. “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Guest - 11-09-2017 plus + 1 for glinda. Only one Mauna Kea left on earth, so maybe it's time to spend the billions putting these xtra-large scopes into space. HOTPE, The JWST should be able to spot the asteroid hurling towards earth as well. Let's hope Bruce Willis and his drilling crew are up for the challenge. jmo. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 11-09-2017 wouldn't an asteroid strike be considered humane when compared to the "mass extinction event" Yes. all the ways a billion plus might be spent to help those in need, or to develop alternatives to CO2 emitting devices, or a myriad of other more worthy causes Exactly my point. Humans continue to bicker about who has more "rights" or "ownership" while flushing the planetary ecology (that we need in order to live) right down the crapper. Is a large telescope something we "really need"? Maybe, maybe not, but in any case it's a better use of our resources than extending copyrights on Mickey Mouse. Enjoy the time you have left, suckers. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-09-2017 glindakine says: Seriously, wouldn't an asteroid strike be considered humane when compared to the "mass extinction event"... a quick, swift, whack upside the head might be a better alternative. gypsy (who has repeatedly stated that fumes occasionally venting from the volcano are dangerous, toxic, and untenable) replies: plus + 1 for glinda. “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - TomK - 11-09-2017 "And beside, considering all the ways a billion plus might be spent to help those in need, or to develop alternatives to CO2 emitting devices, or a myriad of other more worthy causes that a bunch of rich folks staring at the stars. Always good to see a balanced argument about the benefits the TMT will bring to both Hawaii and the whole human race without some ridiculous hyperbole. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-09-2017 Always good to see a balanced argument Yes, if the information glindakine offered here were to be introduced as evidence at the TMT court appeal, who knows what the result might be? “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Eric1600 - 11-10-2017 I'm sure having another cesspool using 4x4 driving costco supporting new age loving environmentalist testifying against a telescope would have swung the case. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Kapoho Joe - 11-10-2017 quote: Mahalo for the chuckle Eric! |
