I believe the "real" answer is: if you hire enough consultants, you can find exemptions for anything and everything ... meanwhile, County wonders why people don't want to participate in the "process".

Thanks, Rob, for the answer. If we build our next cabin, we will have a propane range and a propane water heater. The other is just to expensive for us in our situation.
Jason, 808, you had better build exactly what is in the plan that has been permited. I had experience with not doing so and I had to get an architect to approve an "as built" for us. We were owner builders. Might be better to start over with a new plan using EXACTLY the materials called for in the plan and the EXACT footprint, etc. etc.
Just my hard earned opinion.
Now this could be BECAUSE we were owner builders, and contractors may have more wiggle room. Don't know.

FYI The rebate program for solar does not pertain to new construction.You are required to have it and must bear the full cost.
