RE: Grand jury indicts Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-15-2016 Kenoi's ability to continue sucking on the public straw won't be impeded Whenever I see an accounting of government employee retirement plans in dollars and cents, it's obscene. Especially as they're funded by people who's retirement relies on a 3% gain in their Social Security investment. Many of our elected government officials are less public servant, more public siphon. And we sure can't put a kink in the line so close to the end of Billy's term. “There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.” -Joseph Brodsky RE: Grand jury indicts Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi - TomK - 07-15-2016 If Kenoi is found guilty of theft by the courts, and of course that's a big "if", given it was done while he was mayor, would he still be entitled to his pension? RE: Grand jury indicts Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi - opihikao - 07-17-2016 Mr. Tom, don't know, but if I was Kenoi, I'd be more worried about my law license, which he could lose if convicted. He could have gone into private practice, but that option may not be possible after his trial. (Never mind his potential run for Senator/Governor, etc.; that's over and done.) JMO. RE: Grand jury indicts Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi - TomK - 07-17-2016 Oh, I have no doubt that if he's convicted, he'll be disbarred. My bigger concern is the delay by the ethics board which means if he's found guilty then it'll happen after his term and we end up paying his pension for technical reasons. RE: Grand jury indicts Hawaii Island Mayor Billy Kenoi - kalakoa - 07-18-2016 if he's found guilty then it'll happen after his term and we end up paying his pension for technical reasons I believe that's exactly the point. But then again, we ARE in Hawaii. |
