RE: Keaau solar farm - randomq - 10-23-2019 HVDC causes cancer and poltergeists, but the <5% loss from long distance transmission can be made up with a one time 5% upsizing of the solar array, so negligible. Or just give the 5% up as an offering to *deity*. RE: Keaau solar farm - Seeb - 10-23-2019 even if there’s a little less sun it sounds way easier to build it where you use it. Than build a multi-billion dollar power line across an active volcano, that would be protested for ever RE: Keaau solar farm - BillyB - 10-24-2019 I spoke with Carnac the Magnificent Tuesday, and he is most upset that the sacred riches of Ra the Sun God are being stolen by infidels for crass commercial purposes. He stressed "these rays are sacred to us". I foresee protests to block the construction. RE: Keaau solar farm - kalakoa - 10-24-2019 the sacred riches of Ra the Sun God are being stolen by infidels for crass commercial purposes So ... my personal solar panels are OK then? RE: Keaau solar farm - EightFingers - 10-24-2019 quote: The god of the almighty dollar trumps all other gods. Pay tribute (some may call it a tax) and you will be forgiven. Puna: Our roosters crow first RE: Keaau solar farm - kalakoa - 10-24-2019 Pay tribute (some may call it a tax) But to whom? Permission from the State is obviously worthless, and "the" Hawaiians aren't giving receipts for "tribute"... RE: Keaau solar farm - terracore - 10-24-2019 Under the Kapu system the punishment for casting a shadow on the Ali'i or his property was death. So there is cultural historical precedent for messing with the sun's rays. "The law officer (‘ilamuku) hunted down kapu breakers and saw to it that they were put to death by strangulation, clubbing, stoning, burning, or drowning. There was no trial, no probation, no compassion. Often, guilty kapu breakers caused their own death before the ‘ilamuku got to them. RE: Keaau solar farm - randomq - 10-24-2019 Time to make blocking the road or disobeying the supreme court kapu, problems solved. RE: Keaau solar farm - Peter Easterling - 11-02-2019 Ridiculing the culture of the Hawaiian people is offensive and immature. When I first learned of Punatalk, I was appreciative of the many insights shared. Over time, I recognized that it's a bulletin board largely to help newcomers. My wife and I are lifelong residents of Hawaii, though have lived in Puna for only 8 years, and we appreciated what we learned. I am saddened that Punatalk seems to be increasingly the forum for snarky newcomers who flaunt their assumed superiority. Essentially it is racism. RE: Keaau solar farm - kalakoa - 11-02-2019 Ridiculing the culture of the Hawaiian people is offensive and immature. Yet we're willing to tolerate "the" Hawaiians making a mockery of the Rule of Law? Essentially it is racism. I don't care which race, creed, color, or religion is blocking TMT. |
