RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - Rob Tucker - 06-18-2009 Tom, I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't awept anything under any rug. Folks, if you keep it in a Hawaiian point of view and terms that's fine. If you want to rant on national or world nuclear strategies then I will close it. That has been the rule of thumb here for a long time. It's quite simple really. Punaweb moderator RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - Kelena - 06-18-2009 What if North Korea were transporting a nuclear missle on a ship because its missiles only have a range of 4,000 miles and because Hawaii is 4,500 miles away from North Korea and what if, by some unhappy circumstance the missile landed right in the Kilauea caldera....would it make a sound? RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - centipede - 06-18-2009 For once, I'm on Rob's side. This discussion is getting out of hand. RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - lostboystoy - 06-19-2009 Glen you bring up a very good point, And with past experience in Korea a boat is a great option for them. We have Nukes on trains in the U.S so they can't be targeted or detected Another of Reagans plans, since the soviets knew where all our missle silos were in north and south Dakota. Hawaii is a great target, as isolated as we are, it would take much to bring a boat within 1500 miles to fire a missle, and if they were able to get a hold of some of our older technology say from the Tritan missles their is a very good chance they can fire a missle 4500 mile without any problems, some of our missles today have a range of almost 8000 miles thats only 2000 miles short of going from the north pole to the south...kinda scary setting my soul free.... RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - Devany - 06-19-2009 You know who is really scared about this? People on the mainland who have planned trips here this summer. We have had about 10 e-mails from friends asking if they should cancel their trips here. This is what happens when terrorists are at work, the back story is as big as the threat. They operate on instilling fear. That mot only makes people unsettled, but it has a negative effect on the economy if people are truly afraid to come here. Hawaii is safe. Obama is not going to let anything happen to his beloved state, or any part of America for that matter (just keeping it local Rob). My sister in law, who will be visiting here said it well, "If it’s my time, Oh well, what a way to go “Hawaii” . " I agree with her. Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany www.myhawaiianhome.blogspot.com www.eastbaypotters.blogspot.com RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - Devany - 06-19-2009 That song was great Oink... I love Randy Newman. quote: Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany www.myhawaiianhome.blogspot.com www.eastbaypotters.blogspot.com RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - loffelkopffl - 06-19-2009 this whole story is a joke meant to sell papers and to do more fearmongering from the wingers, i'm about as worried about NK as i was about Iraq, both made up nonsense RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - Bullwinkle - 06-19-2009 If the North Korean missile is like the South Korean car - it will need repair before the missile gets half way. - grin RE: North Korea to fire missile toward Hawai'i - PaulW - 06-19-2009 Reasons why the Hawaii-bound tourists shouldn't be worried: 1. NK missiles can't reach Hawaii 2. NK doesn't have the technology to put nuclear warheads on missiles 3. NK ships are easily tracked 4. The NK leadership has nothing to gain, everything to lose They're communists, they're not looking for rewards in the afterlife. If even the South Koreans are unconcerned then people sure shouldn't be worried about visiting Hawaii. Anyway, aren't there still hundreds of rusting Russian nukes pointing at the mainland? For a North Korean view of things: http://www.korea-dpr.com/faq.htm (Hawaii doesn't get a mention) |
