I went to the referenced website - it is Fox News: Two comments - the headline says 'North Korea MAY fire..., and the source of the story per Fox is the Japanese Defense Agency and US Intelligence. Japan has much more reason for concern than the US due to it's proximity to N Korea, and Fox News has a well earned reputation for printing items with the most sensationalist slant.

As an old Brit, this story reminds me of "Maggie Thatcher's War", the Falklands debacle, which was designed to take attention from the state of the UK economy, much like Reagan's Grenada expedition did for the US.

We need to pay attention to the 'man behind the curtain' and focus on more pressing issues. North Korea, in my opinion, is engaging in sabre rattling for the benefit of the UN Assembly.

The source is actually "the Yomiuri daily, Japan's top-selling newspaper".

I don't now about Japan, but in most countries the top-selling newspaper isn't even worth wrapping fish in.

Fire back. But don't fire "towards". Fire "at".

Well from someone who was stationed in South Korea for two years, North Korea is a force that needs to be wiped out before we end up in another world war. South Korea wants to go North and get rid of the threat, they are still tech. still at war their is only a cease fire in effect for the last 60 years.

the scary part of this if we do do something to stop North Korea we will have China to deal with. And frankly we will loose to China with our troops spread out across the middle east. Our military is spread thinner than it has ever been in history.

Its amazing what a starving country will do for power and technology.
North Korea is not a joke and should not be taken lightly. I dont think hawaii is in that much danger as of yet but if the United States does step up to the plate (which we will have to sooner or later) Then Hawaii will be in grave danger. Their really isnt any rhyme or reason for their attacks. other than world domination in the long run...

Rob, Sorry about that, but I figured if I said anything at all, it would be considered editorializing. I did include a "smiley" which I normally don't use.

My take: Nothing to woory about *right now*, but N.K. should be watched.

This is really looking like a post that "has nothing to do with Puna", but when someone "points a gun at you", it gets your attention, no?
If you want to delete this post, I understand and no hard feelings.

NK does not "need to be wiped out", nor does anyone. Apart from South Korea in the 50s, the North hasn't attacked anyone. They're just posturing. They would have nothing to gain from a nuclear attack because their leadership would all be dead soon after. It's likely this is just for the benefit of an internal power struggle.

Even the South Koreans aren't worried about the North, so we can sleep easy in Hawaii.
