RE: How to deal with a squatter - james weatherford - 01-29-2010 Without going into the gory details here, my earlier comments were based specifically on having been through the unpleasant experience of having someone in a house we owned and them refusing to leave. At first, we tried reason. No good. We were told to try the brutal approach. Not workable -- only gonna cause trouble for the owner. The 45 day notice -- as undesirable and unjust as it may be -- is what works. Be as calm and cool as possilbe, not wanting this situation to back fire on you later. This is one of life's little lessons (the more you try to help losers like this the more they will take advantage of you). Example, my brother decided to let a homeless girl use an apartment out of charity then her boyfriend moved in and started fighting then the police showed up and broke the door down, so if you get out of this without any damage consider yourself lucky and wiser. |
