MarkD is trolling again.

You are trying to bait me into an argument, that is the definition of trolling.

Goodbye buttwipe !!!!

Obie, whan can no be nice? Fear is the path to the dark side. "Could the water be so high that it is undercutting the view area?" Could the water also be taking out the bridge moorings, the highway roadbeds, the foundations of every building? Shut them all down! Hurry!!! (Curse my metal body, I wasn't fast enough, it's all my fault)

I post an opinion on a thread I created. You come on to the thread, don't like what I write, but rather than offer a counter view, you just post that I am a troll.

I respond in detail (and fairly cordially 2nd time). Now you post again that I'm trolling. OK.

Mark D post about Obie post

No, it's not o.k. ! I appreciate both of your informative input......I don't see how Mark was trolling on this one and Obie, the name calling is beneath you.

I am hoping that the police and DNLR presence mentioned in this thread at Rainbow Falls and other public facilities was an emergency fund money grab, discusting enough yes, but if our officials think we all need to be protected from the rawness of nature, that we can't figure out for ourselves how to remain safe while we interact with this awesome environment we live in, then something marvelous will be taken from us.

"Human nature means..."
"People do these things..."
"CD policies evolved..."
"people were able to deduce..."
"...shows some people..."
"some people will argue..."

Hey, can you tell me where my car keys are ? You seem to have a handle on everything else.

Kidding aside, how is this not an attempt to gin up outrage over issues you seem to have pulled from your nether regions ?

The video (below) might be a good example of human nature, showing people doing things when left to their own personal decision making capabilities. It’s probably what parts of Puna might have looked like last night, if we had more sheer drop offs on our mountains:

At least the new Hurricane Map is candid about the road closure reasons.

http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/2018-hurricane-map
Type: Road Closure
Location: Rainbow Drive
Reason: Prevent access to Rainbow Falls
Starts: 8/23/2018, 12:00 AM

Maybe they were afraid any visiting Nepalese would take the Wailuku as just another afternoon mountain drive.

just another afternoon mountain drive.

Oh, I know it was a bit of a stretch, admittedly, but the road did remind me of almost any unpaved route through Hawaiian Acres, crossed with the curves and switchbacks descending to Kolekole Park in North Hilo District, as driven by 15% of the motorists I meet any given day on Highway 130. And I think it’s fair to assume there’s some possibilty our road and park closure decisions are made in part based on a County or Civil Defense employee YouTube search, keywords; flood, road, human nature. (not how I accomplished my discovery, which was simple random serendipity on a rainy night with a steady-as-she-goes internet connection)

Great video! I've taken the big bus on mountain roads in Nepal numerous times just below this elevation, the ones with the teenagers and goats on the roof, no standing room inside and more teenagers protruding out the open doors. If the driver doesn't get the exact right turn each and every time we go off the cliff. First few rows of seating on the bus are elders chanting the entire route. It would do some good for our elected officials to travel and see the world.

Last night up at one of the Hwy 11 road closures, while the officials stayed dry under the bright lights flashing, a few intrepid punatics plodded through the shin deep water to hand clear the worst of the rocks on the roads. Mountain folks from different sides of the world but still accustomed to making a path through the elements.
