RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 10-16-2016 The PDF file is read-only so can't copy any text here County does this too -- rendering PDF that contains a "picture of the document" without a separate text stream. It's fantastically annoying, seems intended to make process participation more difficult. "the University is concerned about the propriety of Mr. Wurdeman's actions." Good times. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-16-2016 drowning the record with gratuitous charges of unfairness ... prejudicing all other parties from having a orderly and fair process ... harass the hearing officer It would be interesting, if someone had the time, to compare statements made by petitioners during the protest when they claimed previous hearings and filings were "unfair" to protestors, to the filings and comments they have made so far during this hearing. No fathers or mothers think their own children ugly; and this self-deceit is yet stronger with respect to the offspring of the mind. -Miguel de Cervantes, novelist (1547-1616) RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Eric1600 - 10-16-2016 I think they create the PDFs this way just because they are stamped, signed physical papers that they run through a scanner. Otherwise preserving the text features in a PDF requires dealing with multiple electronic formats and electronic stamps and signatures. This document is pretty amazing though. In addition to pointing out the Petitioners are repeating multiple filings after they have already been denied, they are intentionally inserting phrases like BIASED and UNFAIR as much as possible to insert them into the court records. quote: RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - TomK - 10-17-2016 The actual Contested Case Hearing is due to start on Thursday, 20th October, although I suspect there's a good chance there'll be a delay. Anyway, for those with the time and opportunity, it's being broadcast live on channel 53 (I assume cable users know how to access that channel) and online via: http://naleo.tv/ RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 10-18-2016 http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news/local-news/tmt-contested-case-begins-thursday Much of Monday's pre-conference hearing was spent determining whether the petitioners felt comfortable representing themselves and if they had known about Wurdeman's withdrawal before it happened. "I'm not sure of the exact date, but we did consent," said Kalani Flores of the Flores-Case ohana. They got a 48-hour delay for the opening, but the rest of the schedule remains intact, just two days shorter. Hmm. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - TomK - 10-19-2016 We're now at the 399th document submitted to http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/mk/documents-library/ Who will be number 400? No. 399 is a peach on its own: "Opposition to all motions … etc." https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/mk/files/2016/10/Doc-399-Fergestrom.pdf RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Eric1600 - 10-20-2016 The protestors have filed a lot of motions, multiple times, trying to throw out everyone from UH to the judge to PUEO or just to delay everything. They've spent much less time trying to argue their position. Thanks for posting that on-line link. I'm tempted just to watch and see how things unfold in real-time. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - kalakoa - 10-20-2016 have filed a lot of motions ... spent much less time trying to argue their position I hate to say it, but that seems to be how things are done here. Argue about "who is the legitimate board" ... instead of paving the roads. Dispute the bid award process (Kona Airport) ... instead of building the improvements. Of course County and State think they can get away with whatever they want, all us "little people" are too busy with our little sideshows. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - Eric1600 - 10-20-2016 I watched the first hour so far and it hasn't been surprising. They complained about lack of notice. What's the wifi password? I don't have a computer so I don't have any of the documents. My computer runs on the generator, so it's not convenient for me, I need hard copies of everything. How do I object? Why is there no hearing on such and such dates? Why can't we have a different venue? The state doesn't own the land so they can't make rules about Kingdom property. RE: TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo - MarkP - 10-20-2016 Of course by now I am not surprised by anything but if this kind of manini bull**** is allowed to derail a project of the magnitude of the TMT then the inmates are truly running the asylum. |
