RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - birchl - 09-21-2014 mimosa..without disputing your observations, there is a difference between someone smoking a ciggerette and some one 'jacking up'! smack is not even the drug of choice in hawaii, ice is. although there could be dedicated exceptions. However, although i can see an addict in a city choosing a public community center to jack up in, i cannot see someone living in the forest doing it. this is not the first time you have insinuated heavy drug use at the center. i believe you claimed that 'people were 'smoking burnt plastic' or words to that effect. as you claimed this to be happening whilst a meeting FULL of people was in progress, i dispute that too! it is possible that your mistakes are genuine. that you have misinterpreted a situation, or that 'the syringe' was for a different purpose (animal care etc). at the very least it must have been an isolated incident and it is unfair to insinuate that heroin drug use is one of the problems we face at the center. #10048; RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - kalakoa - 09-21-2014 I want the community center for this or that but not what these other people want. Exactly this -- I've never heard any complaints about any of the other activities at the community center, just the farmers' market. If the building is unpermitted and the gatherings cause traffic problems, then shouldn't all activities be banned? "Rules For Everyone" and all that. RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - justthefacts - 09-21-2014 correct on the building should be banned for all due to the expired permit, once again , the building is NOT permitted to be a community center the permit is for a residential dwelling and that permit is 15 years expired. so that means it should not be used for anything until the permit is corrected . it would also mean that the insurance may or may not be valid if an incident should happen because it is Not a legal community center. so what the county did was to allow a 15 year expired building permit on a residential building without a certificate of occupancy ,to be extended for one year. in doing so they violate their own rules , the extension allows for the association to obtain what is needed to make the buildings legal, that being the community center and firehouse for use. and that is a huge expensive task. also it allows for the farmers market, But there is a set of rules attached to the market one huge one being the parking and set up . so far the illegal parking continues. now complaints are being filed on the continued illegal parking. the farmers market people do not seem to grasp or understand this issue . they could put the entire permit extension into jeopardy . also further the insurance is a problem, HACA was cancelled once over the farmers market it could happen a second time. there are many things that have to be done before a market can be opened . RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - justthefacts - 09-21-2014 oh and lava, its not about sharing , its about legal compliance. and that building was established for the ENTIRE community to use not just a handful. the building is filthy inside and smells really, really bad when you walk in . one person stated at a meeting "it smells like an animal died inside" . she asked that the building be cleaned. one board member also said it smelled horrible and he thought it might be all the dirty clothes left behind. the issue IS and will always be that the building is for everyone , not just a handful of people who want it for their hangout on a daily basis. it belongs to the community . RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - kalakoa - 09-21-2014 what the county did was to allow a 15 year expired building permit on a residential building without a certificate of occupancy ,to be extended for one year. in doing so they violate their own rules , Hmm. Sounds like the problem isn't with the community center or the farmers' market. Maybe it's time for legal action against County with regard to their "freely interpreting the rules"? Either that, or everyone gets the same leeway. Pick one. RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - justthefacts - 09-21-2014 yes !!! correct on the county violating the rules kalakoa. what the county did was make it up as they went along . every single person that has ever been cited by the county for permit violation should jump on board over this blatant misuse of power. this is far from done there are also sunshine law violations and other issues still being worked on . so this is far from being done. in the paper work submitted the police department issued paperwork the they were "Opposed" to the farmers market, due to violations , activities and non existent parking. HACA has responsibility in respect that the board was well aware that the permits were expired and they had absolutely no business asking for a farmers market until they resolved the permit problem. RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - kalakoa - 09-21-2014 what the county did was make it up as they went along County has been operating this way since forever -- remember, the subdivisions weren't ever quite "legal" to begin with. That said, the solution is NOT to deny services to the community, nor should County interfere with those who would provide for themselves. RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - Midnight Rambler - 09-21-2014 Just a bunch of nimby crybabies who don't want to share. Ah yes, the familiar Puna refrain - if you don't like junkies in the parks, dumping garbage on the roads, vicious dogs attacking people in the street, illegal forest clearing for illegal buildings, and general squalor, you're just a nimby crybaby trying to force your mainland values on the good folks in Hawaiian Acres/Fern Forest/etc. RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - justthefacts - 09-21-2014 correct rambler , but this is not a mainland view its about hard working people , property owners and residents getting tired of being bullied . RE: Hawaiian Acres Farmers market - justthefacts - 09-21-2014 kalakoa , deny services , obviously they have not denied anything they allowed a 15 year expired permit to continue , but they have now compounded the problem by adding a market to that permit . fix one issue before you pile on to the problem . |
