Extra long bumper sticker:

"When only outlaws have guns, they've finally stolen all the legal guns."

The Donner Party really wasn't that great of a party, was it?

Blame the thief that stole them instead. [Wink]

One can have the gun locked in a safe and with a trigger lock, but both can be defeated.

Blame the industry for not investing enough on R&D for advances such as biometric palm scanners and the like. We have the tech to make my weapons only respond to me, but nobody is making it (cost, schmost).

Time for the government to mandate safer firearms.

When this technology is so foolproof that the military and police adopt it ... maybe.

In the age of 3D printers, gun "control" is a meaningless concept.

The concept of "gun violence" is similarly narrow-minded -- cars kill people too, should we outlaw cars? Bigger cars can kill more people at a time, so let's start with those.

That galvanized pipe that brings LP gas to your stove? Weapon.

Rocks from ripping your driveway? Weapon.

What really needs to happen is for society to evolve beyond the use of violence as a solutiuon. Hopefully climate change will force our hand. Otherwise, the species can just go extinct, nature will start over.

I would not want to "live" in a society fascist enough to prevent 100% of physical violence. We'd all have to be drugged, restrained, or hooked up to the matrix. Freedom is inherently dangerous.

I think the best solution would be invention of a cheap, safe, and effective semi-automatic stun gun. Robbers would choose to use them instead of real guns, and us helpless Hawaii homeowners could take down rippers without legal repercussions.

Sounds like some parking lots or Post Office lines in Puna. No violence but a lot of addled confusion.

It can't be that bad if they're able to navigate the round about...

Many Kanaka Maoli have legal guns because they were passed down.

From what I understand that makes no difference. You must register the gun yourself. People have gotten into trouble when they just kept Pop's guns without re-registering them.

The benefit wasn't for the guy and his friends who rolled up to a family party with guns and bats and began an assault on the people celebrating...... The benefit was for the guy who after the shooting started, grabbed a gun that had fallen on the ground and returned fire; driving off the assailants. One of the attackers was wounded, hence the attempted murder charge. The benefit was also for Gerard, who was shot in the initial assault.

You guys make me sick with your racist assumptions and speculation. Just like in the past when a Hippy guy murdered his girlfriend and Punaweb was so sure the Hawaiian Mafia (as if) was responsible.

Mr. Levi was acting in self defense and very well may have saved the lives of innocents in the crowd when he drove the assailants away. My kids were there and I'm appreciative that someone acted to protect them from the assault. How you can blame the people there celebrating instead of the guys that drove down to Pohoiki with the express intent of mayhem and murder is beyond me. Shame on you.

What started it? A father standing up to a homophobic bully and protecting his son; the bully's father bringing his armed friends to Pohoiki to attack anyone who happened to be there.

I also know from previous posts that some of you are second amendment fans.......It's just disturbing that you have the attitude that it only applies to white people.
