glinda, I always appreciate what you bring to the table. I enjoy reading different viewpoints, even if (sometimes, especially if) I disagree with them. Reconciling our differences is the foundation of our political system.
But over the last few years I've noticed, increasingly, people on the far left resorting to name-calling and violence.

The court accepted New Jersey's request to decide if a federal law that prevents repeal or modification of a state law impermissibly "commandeers" the regulatory power of the states.
In any case: without a viable Internet, the next-generation of innovators will simply create their new technologies somewhere other than the US -- but considering how the current generation (Google, Facebook, Apple) have sequestered trillions of dollars outside the US economy, it's not clear this is really a "loss".
Should be entertaining, even if we have to subscribe to EU newspapers by mail in order to read about what happened...

You bring up an important point. Why hasn't Tusli introduced legislation to preserve net neutrality? Maybe she will after all the dollars have been extracted from her petition fund raiser?
I'm not anti Tusli at all, although I'm generally anti-career-politician... and still hoping that she's a lesser evil in that swamp. We have done worse.

The party in power, Republicans this term, control most of the legistlstive process. It's very difficult for the minority party to introduce, and get a vote on their submissions. It's why for instance, the repeal of The Affordable Care Act was brought up for a vote 50 times, and not a single committee has looked into questionable practices by the new administration. Even when Democrats were in power, look how far the Akaka Bill ever made it after numerous attempts to bring it forward for a vote.

I still think the idea that the whole Tusli petition is just a shake down is wrong. I also think the idea that there is nothing our political representatives can do in this instance is wrong. There's a lot of shucking and jiving going on and one needs to apply a full court press in situations like this. And, hopefully, that includes whatever Tulsi and her kind might do with a petition that has an abundance of signatures on it. After all she can't move anything without the will of her constituents behind her. Beside, there's always the eventual court case that I imagine will ensue if this passes to consider. And, I believe, the courts are not immune to the public's sentiments.
