RE: The Bicker Board - HiloJulie - 08-11-2025

"Good point.  OK, let's bicker about it."

"Of course, it's the responsibility of Congress to fund NASA.  Up until this point, they've indicated an interest in maintaining a status quo budget.  The question is whether their Republican members will eventually cave to Russell Vought's Project 2025 desire to cut NASA funding by 25%.  I suspect the answer will be "yes"."

Nothing to bicker about there!

I wholeheartedly agree, however, even if Congress funds these missions, what's to stop the cash from flowing by some unelected unknown government body created under the pretense of efficiency? We piss away 10 times plus a day the 15 million these missions need to run every year on some pretty damn stupid shit!

I also feel this particular issue, as well as so many others, has nothing to do with "saving" "cost cutting" or just plain old money itself, it's more about the dumbing down of science in general, coupled with the making the masses ignorant to the reality with respect to our ever-changing climate. And even more importantly, how that ever changing climate directly affects this tiny little spec of a rock called Hawaii.

While I am no scientist, but could the drought that Hilo is currently experiencing be even in the minutia of possibility somewhat related to this ever-changing climate? Or is it another one of those "100-year events" that we just are experiencing this week?

If Congress were relevant, they would invalidate Herr Trump's tariffs. Notice how that's not happening?

Wow... Rob, how can you stand it? I just skimmed over some of the "comments" in this thread...

Maybe I should bring up HPPOA again, or Fern Acres? How about Ainaloa? At least, then some of them would "join forces" and hone in on me. And it would be "local." (Insert laughy face here)

That's fair enough, but it was in another thread and I missed your post. However, if I had pointed it out at that time, I don't think you would have responded in the way HiloJulie did, and certainly wouldn't have been so disrespectful to someone who works in the field and has a bit of expertise in the subject. For instance, I don't think you'd have responded to my post by comparing it to a three-year-old child.

"I just skimmed over some of the "comments" in this thread..."

"...it was in another thread and I missed your post."

"I donʻt read them but others unfortunately quote them and one just needs to look at the number of posts every day..."

"The details don't matter."

Perhaps maybe this is the core problem of this seemingly constantly perceived animosity and feeling of "disrespect" certain posters versus other posters apparently have.

If a poster takes the time to write up a post, the utmost respect that can be given is for others to read the goddamn thing. If you don't want to follow the thread and read each post in chronological order, absorb the messages trying to be conveyed, or asked, I don't see the "well I missed it," "did not read it" or "just skimmed it" and "details don't matter" as any entitlement for one to even reply to any thread subject matter post.

It's really never about the spoken words. It's all about "OMFG, SHE posted AGAIN!"

Now, off to help find those coconut rhinoceros beetles apparently taking over lower Puna now.

Yep, and they are all perfect. Each and every post is perfectly all about her.. she's the center of the universe.. the most impartial, the truest, the only person here that is right, and god knows why Rob doesn't just turn the whole thing over to her..

Ain't it pathetic? I mean, seriously, can you imagine being stuck being her?

She reminds me of the Damon days. When he became too much to bear, and lord knows she's on that precipice, he went off and started his own website.. turned himself into a “newsman” and filled the ethers (for anyone who cared to pay attention) with an abundance of energy. For a long time.. years he went on.. and on.. and on. And oh my did he have an inexhaustible amount of energy. Though thankfully not here. I wonder what became of him?

Posting posters on your ignore list is such a ridiculous thing to do. It assumes those listed give a toss. Perhaps it's a reason to send another post without seeing responses, hence the serenity, but what's the point?
