Yes, same here. Firstly, Netflix stopped sending DVDs on Saturdays, but then, a few months ago, I noticed that on several occasions Netflix only received my returned DVDs after a couple of days. Before then, it was very rare it took more than a day. Most of the time I post the returns via the mailboxes in HPP. It is intermittent though.

When you use the outgoing mail slots in HPP, the delivery driver has to get back to the Keaau P.O. By 2 PM. That's the cutoff for the day's outgoing mail. I think Pahoa is 3 PM, and the outside box at the Hilo P.O. Is 5 PM. The bags are on the plane to Honolulu for sorting not long after that.

Understood, HOTPE, but I normally post the DVDs in the morning on the way into work, hours before pickup time. Anyway, I'm not actually too bothered, I have plenty of other things to keep me occupied, but just wanted to say my experience is similar to PM2's.

Thanks. We had also noted that Netflix had stopped sending out on Saturdays. Then this delay began occurring some time later. Good to hear we are not alone, I guess. For the most part it's my wife who keeps track of Netflix. She tells me that according to the Netflix website, the dvds are pretty much recieved and sent out on the usual timely manner. Seems the new delay occurs somewhere on the way over between Honolulu and Volcano PO box. ...assuming the sent and recieved info on the Netflix website is accurate. Wouldn't want to unjustly place the blame on the postmaster.

Yes, you do need to catch the carrier before he delivers to your bank of mail boxes, but if your carrier is running late and doesn't return to the Keaau P.O. by 2 PM, your mail won't be put on the truck that drives to Hilo, and your mail will go out the following day.

Got it, HOTPE. I wasn't as clear as I meant to be, apologies for that. What I was trying to say is that my behavior hasn't changed, so whatever the problem is, it's occurring somewhere between the mailboxes and Netflix. Just ruling out one variable.

I make it a point to drop off at the PO collection box or at the counter inside before the outgoing cutoff time. We aren't terribly up in arms over the delay, but of course prefer the former punctual consistency. Commercial TV happily verboten.

I noticed when the USPS was receiving public comment regarding the elimination of Saturday service, Netflix was at the front of the line saying that they didn't have any problem with it. Looks like they got sick of waiting for the USPS and took matters into their own hands.

Have not written here for a while, but this has been my experience with Amazon and shipping to Hawaii, as of lately.
For the last two months, before i finally joined, nothing was shipping to any addresses of mine.
Then, voila, got a super one deal for 67 bucks for Prime, for a "day only", and I grabbed it.
So far, all prime shipping, even under 35, has been for free.
Your experiences? Were you coerced into Prime, here in HI?
Just wondering what your experiences are like.

Yes. Amazon did ship some things for free to Hawaii/Alaska if you met the $35 minimum order (used to be $25) but over the years the items that they would ship here have been shrinking. Then when you sign up for Prime almost everything will ship here.

Amazon ships huge amounts of stuff to Hawaii. If they were smart they would barge over the most commonly ordered items and ship them from warehouses here.
