RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-28-2017 the president gets his/her appointees and bureaucrats to administer his/her wishes. Within the confines of the law. As we've seen. A president cannot just start building a wall. A president cannot target a religion or nationality for exclusion without following the law. A president cannot control the internet, unless it's within exiting laws, or passing new laws. And we see (above) how difficult that is. Net Neutrality is good for Puna. Throttling and link blocking is detrimental to the user. Here's a reminder how you can reach the powers that be, without signing up for Tulsi's contact list: FCC Web Contact (under comments, say you support Net Neutrality: https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express Email the FCC Leadership Directly: You can email all five leaders of the FCC to express your support for Net Neutrality. Here are the email addresses you need to know—the Republicans are the ones who want to dismantle Net Neutrality. •Ajit Pai, Chairman (Republican) - Ajit.Pai@fcc.gov •Mignon Clyburn, Commissioner (Democract) - Mignon.Clyburn@fcc.gov •Michael O’Rielly, Commissioner (Republican) - Mike.O’Rielly@fcc.gov •Brendan Carr, Commissioner (Republican) - Brendan.Carr@fcc.gov •Jessica Rosenworcel, Commissioner (Democrat) - Jessica.Rosenworcel@fcc.gov More info: https://lifehacker.com/all-the-different-ways-you-can-lobby-to-save-net-neutra-1820801967 “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - terracore - 11-28-2017 "the net is more a utility than a luxury.. i.e. should be overseen and available to all" Like healthcare? RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - TomK - 11-28-2017 So I take it that Tulsi's petition is a super-secret petition and not accessible to anyone who hasn't signed up for Team Tulsi. Am I wrong? RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - punaticbychoice - 11-29-2017 TomK@ 22:53:10- I have to deal with politics a lot, and am aware personally of some 20 petitions similar to Rep. Gabbard's from members of Congress and more from various political advocacy groups. How do you stand on the issue Tom? It may be really bad news for us in Hawaii. RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - Eric1600 - 11-29-2017 I don't think Tulsi has a petition for Net Neutrality, but there are many out there. I think some might be confused with the issue of OFF (Get Off Fossil Fuels Act) that Gabbord is pushing and asking for citizens to show support for by signing on as "co-signers". There are a couple of Tusli written articles about her position and vote against the reversal of Net Neutrality: https://www.votetulsi.com/node/25032 RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - kalakoa - 11-29-2017 It may be really bad news for us in Hawaii. Perhaps the State should fund some studies on the potential impact? RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - punaticbychoice - 11-29-2017 Thank you Eric1600. RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - geochem - 11-29-2017 quote: Although I am sure that you didn't intend to, you make a good point glinda: why shouldn't the utility have a tiered rate structure: one rate for those who squander generation capacity and another for those of us who take an occasional sip? Why should I have to pay to support tens of millions of dollars worth of capacity that I don't ever use? Likewise, why should Granny Grumpass have to pay the same rate for access to the internet, so that she can occasionally trade emails with the grandkids, as Willy W*nker who spends half his life playing online video games? or our local Sammer Spammer who sends out terabytes of garbage emails on a daily basis? Just to be clear, I don't have near enough information to have an (informed) opinion on this issue - but anytime I get barraged with anguished claims of unfairness over policy issues, my bullsh*t detector goes into overload... RE: More from Tulsi: Net neutrality to be repealed - kalakoa - 11-29-2017 why shouldn't the utility have a tiered rate structure Many do: rates increase as you exceed the "baseline" usage. Why should I have to pay to support tens of millions of dollars worth of capacity that I don't ever use? For the same reason that childless people are taxed to pay for schools that they "don't ever use". |
