My wife and I recently purchased property in Mt. View and are looking forward to building/moving there within the next couple of years.

Aloha, Mr. nice guy, welcome to Hawai'i nei! Mt. View/Ola'a is beautiful! An old song written for the area, describes the flower that blossoms freely in Ola'a. "Ola'a Beauty" was written to express not just the lovely flower, but the entire special essence of the area...Enjoy!

I agree with Kenney. Welcome, eventually, it's an interesting place! The wild west, third world and modern civilization all inter-mingled in a small place. The people are nice though!
Make sure to make the neighbors your best friends, you won't regret it. It's the best advice I can think of right now.

Mahalo for the reminder of the original name of the area around Mountain View and for linking Ola'a Beauty. I was under the impression that the song was more a love song comparing the woman he loves to a beautiful lei (of Ola'a - whether that's the woman or the flowers for the lei, I couldn't say, but it's a charming metaphor).

This was one of my Tutu's favorites as her ohana was from Ola'a, bless her soul. It could be both, Mike, but we always deferred to her interpretation. It is such a lovely song!
