My wife and I recently purchased property in Mt. View and are looking forward to building/moving there within the next couple of years.
I'm not a big chatter so I hope you can be satisfied with that. If not, just ask.
I just wanted to say, "Hi!"
btw: Rob, thank you for hosting this forum!

We used to have an introduction thread around here somewhere but it's been awhile since I've seen it. Anywho welcome to the asylum, the acid is served at 7.

Aloha, Mr. nice guy, welcome to Hawai'i nei! Mt. View/
Ola'a is beautiful! An old song written for the area, describes the flower that blossoms freely in
Ola'a. "Ola'a Beauty" was written to express not just the lovely flower, but the entire special essence of the area...Enjoy!

Yes, Welcome! If your past posts are any indication, your name fits.
Mt. View is a beautiful place to call home. Green pastures, ocean view, cool nights. Great choice!

I agree with Kenney. Welcome, eventually, it's an interesting place! The wild west, third world and modern civilization all inter-mingled in a small place. The people are nice though!
Make sure to make the neighbors your best friends, you won't regret it. It's the best advice I can think of right now.

Aloha, Opihikao:
Mahalo for the reminder of the original name of the area around Mountain View and for linking Ola'a Beauty. I was under the impression that the song was more a love song comparing the woman he loves to a beautiful lei (of Ola'a - whether that's the woman or the flowers for the lei, I couldn't say, but it's a charming metaphor).

Hui... Aloha, Mike!
This was one of my Tutu's favorites as her ohana was from Ola'a, bless her soul. It could be both, Mike, but we always deferred to her interpretation. It is such a lovely song!
Here are the lyrics to "sing along": [
]
Ola'a Beauty
`Auhea `oe e ku`uipo
Ola`a Beauty e ke aloha
Kau mai ka hâli`a, e ke aloha
Halihali `ia mai, e ke `a`ala
E ku`u pua ho`oheno, e ku`u milimili
E ku`u lei nani, poina `ole
There you are, my sweetheart
Ola`a Beauty, my beloved one
Fond memories appear my beloved one
Brought to me by the fragrant beauty
Oh, my cherished blossom my admiration
You are my beautiful lei that will not be forgotten
Enjoy your evening!
