Replacing broken door wall glass?
#11
Mahalo PM2. Glass is tougher than you think when laid flat on an even surface, so give it a good strong scribe like you want to scratch your initials with a sharp nail into plastic, as an example. Of course you can not cut tempered glass, as in jalousies, or louvered window glass, needs to be cut by wet saw (hello Carey!). You can tell tempered by its slightly rounded edge instead of the usual sharp edge.
I learned the kerosene trick as it pushes the glass debris away so you end up with a consistent groove, so to speak when done instead of a pock marked line when cut dry, and your cutter will last longer.
Don't forget glazing points ( holds glass in place) on wood frame before you putty!

right on, Tink! ...added to my glass cutting tips file.

i am thinking a 28" cut could indeed be quite nerve-racking. practice, practice on scraps sounds like the well advised plan.

There was a nice looking white-framed slider at Smith's today. Didn't see a price.
