Ironically: the researcher who "may have discovered" a sixth sense (magnetic field orientation) in humans was just given $900K to continue the work. Meanwhile, we can't fund dengue eradication or figure out where ROD comes from...

The solution to Dengue is an "off the shelf" GMO product and likewise a solution can be developed for ROD, but people aren't willing to accept the fact that when an environment has been irreparably modified by humans, it has to maintained by humans, even though that is what biologists have been preaching for hundreds of years. I learned it in the 7th grade in a Field Biology class. Back then people weren't getting their "education" from social media.
People like to think that "mother Earth" (or insert whatever deity you believe in) will fix all these problems if humans just 'back off' but the fact remains that 99.9%+ of every species that has ever evolved is extinct, and the survivors usually aren't cute fuzzy ones- they are rats, cockroaches, and virulent strains of nasty ugly things that contribute to max extinction events.
